I'd be interested in seeing this. Carlo Collodi's original story is actually pretty dark, and many today would view it in its unadulterated form as not being child-safe either; but this version looks a lot closer to the book than Disney's sugar-coated one and thus definitely worth a look.

I'd be interested in seeing this. Carlo Collodi's original story is actually pretty dark, and many today would view it in its unadulterated form as not being child-safe either; but this version looks a lot closer to the book than Disney's sugar-coated one and thus definitely worth a look. It differs a lot from the original story, but it's still good. Saw it in a theater on Tuesday.

Also the fox and the pupeteer are mergend into one character. His sidekick in the film is not a cat, but a monkey.

I won't inquire as to whether or not the moralizing cricket remains a character, or his fate if so (I want to be surprised). If they stay true to the book on that point he'll wind up a lot differently from Jiminy .
