Some of you may remember him from CFB back on IMDb.
Just learn on Facebook that he passed away a few days ago.

From his IMDb profile ... I seem to remember this one being posted:

Wow!
When I first joined the IMDB Clore and telegonus were the first two posters who welcomed me and made me feel I had come to the right place. Their knowledge was encyclopedic, and they could go on for pages discussing classic film in great detail.
Telegonus is still with us. I always hoped Clore, who took the end of the IMDB to heart, would find his way to this forum.
Rest well, Clore, wherever you are.

Jeepers, that is sad to hear Rufus , thanks for letting us know, he was quite a character, with whom I had a lengthy PM relationship - almost daily at one stage of my life. He would even, LOL, privately feed me strategic info during my wars with Strelnikoff. There is no other poster I spoke too as much in PM's, although we did eventually fall out; over a joke I made about a reference of his to a line in Casablanca. His name was Charles - if memory serves, and I used to call him my spirit guide to the old movies - especially westerns from the 40s and 50s, I had access to and hadn't seen. He was like an American version of my late friend and movie mentor Winton F. One of a kind, He was certainly the most interesting poster I ever met on the IMD. He was knowledgeable, articulate and passionate, I learned much from him. Hopefully, we shall see telegonus on this thread.
RIP Clore2, you were a legend on the IMDB Classic Film Board. I'll never forget you dude, and I suspect I won't be the only one.

If memory serves correctly, clore joined CFB in 2002, and I (as zeldafan) joined in 2004. We didn't hit it off immediately when I first joined the board (I was a newbie and was known primarily for my odd screen name that had nothing to do with classic films), but in one discussion about locations, I happened to mention that I lived in NYC. clore sent me a pm and mentioned that he, too, lived in NYC. We became instant pm buddies and, for the next decade, we would engage in various discussions both on topic and off, and went on to develop a mutual, trusting and respectful friendship for many years.
We had some good times, didn't we, clore? MsEllery couldn't catch a break around us, and neither could Jimbo! For a while there, we had it good. The conversations with JC, Strel, Addison, Tele, and so many others were at times profound and downright maddening, but we were a family united by our mutual love of the classics, and clore, with his dignity, grace, class and elegance, helped us all to bond and grow. He had so much respect for the CFB and for the members of the board, and fought very hard towards the end to help maintain its integrity.
He was more than a friend, not only to me but to many on the board. He was the CFB, the man who befriended us and made us richer, not only with his unsurpassed knowledge of classic films, but also with his powerful presence.
He was a good man, and he will always be remembered that way.
Here's to clore.

I remember him more from other boards and he was always a positive feature in often negative environments. He’s gone now but if you follow the link in the OP you’ll find his IMDb reviews which are well worth a read.

Thanks to everyone checking in with all the Clore Lore. He deserves it. He was a great and true friend; supportive, caring, his flaws were few, and what grudges (probably not the right words) were not long lasting, and it's not like he ever truly "had it in for" anyone. The dude had a temper, but he was not mean.
When his conflicts got personal, and he broke off with one I remember very well, an older guy from Brooklyn, near to where Clore grew up, same parish, that was brutal, as both men were close pals, and they loved the same films and genres. Many of you who go back more than twenty years on the old IMDB boards might remember Sahseegm Joe; as nice a man who trod these boards. He had imperfections, yet as I saw it, nothing to [it. Years later, when Joe vanished from the CFB and IMDB, and then died, I wrote to Clore about it, and he took some of the blame for the dust-ups and breakup with his old fellow westerns fan pal, wished he'd got back to him before he (Joe, I mean) died, as Joe was in poor health for years.
I, luckily, never fought with Clore. My policy is generally to agree to disagree,--if something comes up--but my attitude is "don't let's let this get too personal". I'm exhausted now, have paid extensive praise to Charles Lore (his eal name) elsewhere on the Web. He was for over twenty years my best and closest on-line friend on the Internet. His loyalty and kindness were beyond praise. I loved him like a brother, and his death devastated me to the marrow of my being. We had a very real and deep friendship, and yet we never met. Once, when I was having some financial troubles he offered me help, in the form of money. I thanked him, but passed. It was an unusual and unique friendship, and I wanted it to stay that way.
Clore was a kind a kind and dear man. It was a pleasure and honor to have been blessed with his friendship, which had truly, a beginning, a middle and an end.
I feel confident that Charles shall truly rest in peace, with God close at hand.
Farewell, dear friend, with love and God by your side,'
John Bass/aka Telegonus

I'll add my insignificant voice to the chorus marking the passing of clore(2). Or in movie terms, I'll take my place as n extra in the BG of this crowd scene.
I never met clore. In fact until this thread I never knew hist first name -- I still don't know his last name (after MsEllery he was a bit hesitant to give personal info out). But for a couple of years we shared a PM correspondence, some on IMDb but mostly on the TCM board.
Clore was a great movie buff: knowledgeable but unpretentious, insightful but not overbearing. We shared a love of westerns (unsurprising for a Southerner like me, but a bit unexpected in a Noo Yawkah). We would ponder the career arc of somebody like James Millican, and compare notes on favorite episodes of Rawhide, Wagon Train, or other TV oaters (we also shared an interest in old TV, much of which clore had seen on first airing)
Clore grew up in the burgeoning film fan scene of 1960s NYC: he knew the young Leonard Maltin, and was friends with the ill-fated actor Barry Brown (who was the co-lead in the 1972 western Bad Company). One of his mentors was the great film historian William K. Everson.
I loved hearing stories of clore's early movie and TV watching. And he had a million of 'em: he possessed a Marilu Henneresque ability to recall precisely when he saw a movie. "Letter From An Unknown Woman? Channel 4 Million Dollar Movie, April 27 1962." I always found this amusing, as I have trouble recalling the decade I first saw some films (Interestingly, clore claimed this ability was as much a curse as a gift).
After a couple of years clore had some health and other personal issues and gradually stopped writing (not an argument, we never had one). I would occasionally try to find him on other boards, even registering on the Horror Board (despite my limited interest in the genre; clore however was a fanatic on horror films of the studio era) hoping to see him there.
I have a lot more to add but I'll let this go for the time being. In the future if there are no overwhelming objections I may even post some of clore's non-personal posts from our correspondence (if they survive at the TCM site). As I said he was a very insightful movie buff.
R.I.P.

Oh that is sad news - he was a great poster and Dan Duryea fan RIP Clore Clore's family was apparently acquainted with Duryea's family; supposedly clore's mother as a girl actually met the pre-Hollywood DD. Per clore (or perhaps more accurately his mother), DD was very mild and quiet offstage, almost a milquetoast-type. Everyone who knew him was shocked when he became famous as a violent tough guy.

I talked to him briefly in the comments at the Trailers From Hell site at the beginning of the year, and he was not doing well, but I was so happy to be able to tell him how much the old IMDb boards meant to me in my education as a movie fan.

I know this post is old, but I only recently discovered this site. It is so sad to hear that clore has passed. He and I corresponded quite a bit, both on the old IMDB boards and through private messaging. The classic film community has lost an extremely knowledgeable, kind, humorous gentleman. Clore was one of the first posters to welcome me to the boards. I will miss him.
