A great story about the indefatigable Chinese actor, James Hong, who has 454 credits in his nearly 70 year career. He's a wonderful talent and a special man. And at the age of 93, he's still going strong, working constantly. His spirit and attitude are lessons for us all.

A great interview, but I was appalled to find out that one of my favorite character actors, J. Carrol Naish, was such a mean-spirited a**hole.

What a life! The stories he must have would fill volumes. So happy he finally got his star. I read somewhere that Jack liked him so much making CHINATOWN that he requested that James have a scene in its sequel.   |

Back when you had to physically visit a video store to obtain a variety of movies, my roommate and I went and took advantage of their seven movies for seven days promo. Lo and behold, James Hong was in five of them, purely by chance we rented these movies not knowing he was in them. He became "that guy" for us and we really grew to admire his work ethic and looked for him from then on...which wasn't hard, the man was in nearly everything for awhile there.  Hearing that story about Naish made me sad for him, but look how he's triumphed since. He has plenty of forever fans out here who look forward to seeing him again and again. |

 James Coburn and Hong in Blake Edwards' The Carey Treatment 1972. Sort of doctors-detective story. Hong's doctor character is accused of an illegal abortion that kills a 15y/o girl, while Coburn's character does the detective work to try to clear Hong's character. I liked that touch that they looked at each others as equals as doctors, the detective story was rather good too.
