It's amazing to think of the evolution of The Beatles music from some of their earlier songs like "She Loves You", or "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", to the remarkable kinds of musical creations they were coming up with just a few years later.... What are some other musical acts that changed so much, the band they eventually became almost seemed like a different group compared to the original incarnation ? SAVE FERRIS

A lot of It was George Martin getting new toys and wanting make new things happen as much as the John and Paul did.
Even his own instrumental contributions evolved.
Misery - Piano Baby It's You - Celesta You Really Got A Hold On Me - Piano Not A Second Time- Piano Money- Piano Long Tall Sally - Piano Matchbox - Piano Slow Down - Piano Kansas City - Piano A Hard Days Night - Piano Tell Me Why - Piano No Reply - Piano Rock And Roll Music - Piano What You're Doing - Piano You Like Me Too Much - piano In My Life - Piano and tambourine - his piano solo was recorded at half speed and a lower octave and sped up to sound like a harpsichord. The Word - Harmonium Good Day Sunshine - Piano Tomorrow Never Knows - Piano Got To Get You Into My Life - Harmonium Fixing A Hole - Harpsichord Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite- Harmonium, Lowrey Organ, Glockenspiel With A Little Help From My Friends - Hammond organ Getting Better - Piano Lovely Rita - Piano and Harmonium A Day in the Life - Harmonium All You Need Is Love - Piano Rocky Racoon - Piano Because - Harpsichord Sun King - Lowrey Organ Across the Universe - Hammond organ

Not always for the good. Fleetwood Mac went from being a great British blues band to bland pop group and Genesis went from Great English pastoral prog outfit to bland pop group. Only way "niche" bands get to make serious money though. The appeal is always widest when you have no great musical identity and can appeal across a broad spectrum.

First band I thought of when I saw the thread title was Genesis. All their albums were good except for their last one. They went from great to good throughout the 70s and started getting gradually weaker throughout the 80s and for their swan song they put out a piece of total garbage that was nothing like Genesis.

Fleetwood Mac was the first to pop into my mind, other than the Beatles. Quite a difference from Albatross and Oh Well to Rhiannon and Tusk
The Kinks went from simple pop songs (You Really Got Me) to heavy concept albums (Muswell Hillbillies) back to pop songs (Come Dancing)

Radiohead went from Creep to whatever. People other than me liked the change.
Bee Gees went from sappy pop to falsetto disco. Didn't like either incarnation.
Captain Beefheart went from blues rock to Trout Mask Garbage.
Jethro Tull went from blues rock to rock to Elizabethan to prog folk rock
Yes went from synth prog to poppy.

Dio has gone through quite a few different styles over the years:
Here's him doing early 1960s doo wop:
Here's him doing 1970s Led Zeppelins style hard rock:
And finally what he's mostly known for, 1980s heavy metal:

Danzig I would also say has transformed quite a bit over the years, over the course of a few years he went from this:

Miles Davis went through a few incarnations. And every change he made was excellent.
This lineup had Coltrane with Miles.
This lineup had John McLaughlin (guitar), Herbie Hancock (keyboard) and others.

The first act that come to my mind is the Oak Ridge Boys and it is because the act had different members at different times. The four guys that are in the group's current line up are not any of the original members. The only other act that I can think of are the Eagles.
God bless you and the remaining members of both groups always!!!
