My mom is a religious person and asked me to do this. I agreed to start this thing and sit in this token position for the first 10 minutes of the event. Later my father will take over and complete the thing that goes on for 2 hours. I don't mind pretending to do this thing for 10 mins if it pleases my mom.

If you don't mind my asking, is there anything of a supernatural nature that you regard as existent?

If you don't mind my asking, is there anything of a supernatural nature that you regard as existent? Nope. I am not interest in any kind of supernatural thing. I am interested in food, travelling and enjoying the life. Religion/God/supernatural things never interest me and I never think about them.

That's too bad, because you're a character in a story that is being played out supernaturally, whether you know it or not, whether you believe it or not.

Even if there is some supernatural arrangement for everyone, how am I worse off by disregarding that? No one knows what sort of supernatural arrangement there is for us. If there is none then I enjoyed my life and paid no time to things like god/soul/religious rituals that don't interest me. if there is a life after this then what will I be accused of? I lived my life well. Didn't do any crime. Didn't swindle tax or steal anyone else's rights or properties. How will I be worse off merely because I liked travelling and food and entertainment and disregarded unknown supernatural thing?

It may be stereotypical, but it seems like you should be the one telling me this, and not the other way around.

That smoke coming off of there.. Do you get high from it?
If not, then I wouldn't want to breathe that in.

It may be stereotypical, but it seems like you should be the one telling me this, and not the other way around. I don't have anything against anyone else if they choose material pleasure. But I wouldn't classify myself as person who indulges in material pleasures. I see food as a human need. Only if I indulge too much and become obese then I will classify my love for food as love for material pleasure. Same with travelling. Travelling is like spirituality. You get to see different cultures and meet the fellow humans that you have not met before. You enjoy the nature and see flora and fauna of the mother earth. Now I hardly travel to somewhere once a year. That's not overindulging in it. It depends upon what you classify as material and what you classify as spiritual.

Once upon a time these things were done seriously. But times have changed. I saw my cousins were more interested in clicking photos and updating the whole thing on their fb. It's like fun. That's what I like about these rituals.

I suppose there are successful writers about food and travel. Have you ever considered that? Most writing is about something else. Most people don't write of course. It doesn't ordinarily come at an early age. Old people have a better comprehension of writing and often help the younger people with their appreciation of events, fictional and otherwise. How will you help in your old age?

How will you help in your old age? Sorry, I don't think I have the ability that a person needs to be a good writer. Even if I work on my writing skills then also I will remain a poor writer. I do understand my limitations. I scored very poorly in writing part of my GMAT test. But I don't think it matters a lot given that my RC is strong and I work in finance in which I have to interpret more than I have to write. Edit: "I am not interest in any kind of supernatural thing." I think you were taking a dig at the grammatical error that I made in that sentence because I used 'interest' instead of interested. I think I meant to write interested but wrote "interest" because I have some form of writing problem. It always happens to me. I even miss words and repeat words twice.

I am not criticizing your grammar! I have too many typos myself. I got new glasses the 24th (They're fantastic!) that are just for sitting in front of the desktop computer (About 30" away) and that might help reduce my typos. I have other glasses for driving and yet other glasses for ultra fine print (about 15" away). And I think you should consider writing because of your special understanding of western and eastern traditions. Never mind if you can't speak as well as people who are capable of only one. There are too few people who can bridge the cultures.

That's too bad, because you're a character in a story that is being played out supernaturally, whether you know it or not, whether you believe it or not. An important question is...how do you know it to be true?
