one of them instead of the main act? Did you stay for the main act, or did you leave after the opening act (or one of them if more than one) had finished? I once went to see Level 42 opening for Madonna, but unfortunately had to stay since I was with my sister who wanted to watch Madonna. I was ONLY interested in seeing Level 42 and would've left after they left the stage IF I wasn't with her.

Went to a Faith No More show to see L7. Stayed for Faith No More, missed the last train home and was stuck standing outside the train station all night.

I went to a Cult concert because Lenny Kravitz was opening. Stay for the whole thing, as it was New Year's Eve and we were going to party in the city afterwards. Cool, too, because Lenny joined the Cult on stage for the NYE countdown.

On October 8, 1999 I went to the Alan Jackson concert in Knoxville, TN. I was there for the guy who went on stage first: Shane Minor.

P.S. Shane is a full time songwriter now and his most recent success was the #1 song from Cole Swindell named "Chillin' It".

Went to Guns'n'Roses to see Faith No More support
Blur to see Mega City 4 and Suede support
Keane to see Rufus Wainwright and Echo & The Bunnymen support
Loads more usualy involving bands I went to see regularly.
Stayed til the end for all of them except Keane

I went to a free concert at one of the parks in the big city. The lineup was (in order of appearance):
Danko Jones = en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danko_Jones
Dunk = en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunk_(band)
J. Englishman = en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Englishman
(All Canadian acts, which may explain why you may/may not have heard of them before.  )
I went primarily to see Danko and Dunk. After Dunk played, I didn't stick around for J. Englishman.
Had it not been a free concert, I would have likely stuck around for J. Englishman. Might as well get my money's worth!

Pelican opened for Thrice in 2008. Pelican is one of my favorite bands, and I have no interest whatsoever in Thrice. We took off after Pelican finished their set.

I've done that mostly just at festivals. I walk out if Marilyn Manson is headlining or Five finger Death punch.
