If it were up to me yes. They're ferocious., bad around kids. They can't be around other animals without attacking them. I would ban them here in my community.

I don't care for the breed personally, but I don't know if they should be banned outright. I think that ownership of a member of the breed should be strictly regulated and regularly reviewed.
Owners should attend special training sessions to familiarize themselves with their legal and social responsibilities. They and each individual dog they own should require a licence and breeding should be done under strict guidance from a government authority.
If any rules or regulations are violated, the animals should be immediately destroyed and the owner should receive a lifetime ban from that species and face appropriate legal repercussions.

No. Morons who acquire, breed, and maltreat them to encourage vicious behavior should be banned.

I don't know about banning.
But studies have come out to suggest that breed is not a predictor of dog behavior.

Australia,[68] Ecuador,[69] Malaysia,[70] New Zealand,[71] the territory of Puerto Rico,[72] Singapore,[73] Venezuela[74] Trinidad and Tobago,[75] Denmark, Israel,[76] France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland,[77] and Turkey[78] have enacted some form of breed-specific legislation on pit bull–type dogs, including American Pit Bull Terriers, ranging from outright bans to restrictions on import and conditions on ownership.[77][79] The state of New South Wales in Australia places restrictions on the breed, including mandatory sterilization.[80][81] Certain cities in the United States have banned ownership of the American Pit Bull Terrier, as well as the province of Ontario, Canada.[77][82] American Pit Bull Terriers are regulated in the United Kingdom. In recent years, restrictions have been declining with over 64 repeals since 2018. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pit_Bull_Terrier#Breed-specific_legislation

Should require a hefty insurance policy, like having a DUI.

Too many of those well-trained pit bulls have killed the owners kids. I would love to see them banned here in Canada.

I'm not the biggest fan of pit-bulls, but the thing is, that almost any breed can act aggresively.
When I was a kid my mother was attacked by a dog in our street. It was a seemingly meek mongrel, looking a bit like a Saint Bernard. The owners would let the dog roam around freely on the street, until one day without any warning it came at my mother, sinking his teeth deep into her leg, not wanting to let go. Thankfully the dog didn't hit an artery and the owner managed to get the dog off, so nothing that serious happened.
I know someone who was attacked by his own dog and the dog bit one of his ears off, now he has to wear a prosthetic ear. As it later turned out, the dog had a brain tumor which affected his behaviour.

Certain people should be banned from owning them. Make it difficult to own them. Require a license and insurance.

If given a choice between a Chihuahua and a pit bull, which do you think would be easier to fight off?
