Doctor Who Fans Speak Out AGAINST Doctor Who
Since the demise of IMDB, numerous websites have sprung up to take its place. Among the most prominent are this side, IMDB2, and MovieChat.Org, a clone of the original site (complete with the original threads intact)
BBC shills/Moffat apologists try mightily on these boards to do "damage control" from the backlash against the garbage that Moffatt & the BBC are currently inflicting on us, but even the most passionate pushers of propaganda can't hide the fact that the OVERWHELMING majority of Doctor Who fans loathe the current season.
Look no further than comments on these very boards. Here, in their own words, are what hardcore Doctor Who fans have to say about the current state of Doctor Who:

I wish they'd hurry up and cancel it

It just gets worse and worse with every series and from what we can see of the new series:
An ugly black lesbian as the new companion, Missy still pouncing around like Mary Poppins on crystal meth and making a travesty of every show she appears in and Peter Capaldi still coming across as an incoherent mumbling Scottish tramp.
The BBC need to hurry up and cancel this farce before things go too far and they end up facing paramilitary terrorist action for what they have done to an iconic British show. Enough is enough.

Yup. They should have stayed with Clara or another hot chick.

See? Ralph Macchiato and myself totally AGREE with the OP-ED and the premise that replacing the lovely Clara with the nasty "Bill" was a slap in the face to the fans.
Moffatt should hang his head in shame. How could he go from a masterpiece like "The Doctor Dances" to THIS garbage? Words fail me.

Bill is gross.

Was Capaldi a Failure?

Seems like they went in a wrong direction.

Capaldi did a good job with what he was given and was a welcome change to an "older, serious" Doctor after the last two "look at meeeeee, I'm sooooo maniac and wacky" portrayals.
It's the writing staff and producer Steve Moffat that utterly failed Capaldi's era.

I think it's the writer's fault. So, one of the cliches of Who is the doctor going through his thought process and then his brilliant light bulb moment and then this remark on how he understands for the audience's perspective. They do whatever and set this up every time. But there's no compelling stories. "Smile" was lame. The best Capaldi episode was "Listen" and they let that plot fizzle out. There's nothing comparable to the best Tenent or even Matt Smith's. The companion's function is merely to comment on how brilliant the Doctor is at this point. It's not his fault.

It's some kind of lip-service about how great the Doctor is, but the show isn't holding its end in reflecting that. We're supposed to take the word of the female companion.

True, and if you look at it back, that is what they did with Clara, it almost became The Adventures Of Clara and a Man Called the Doctor. Even the latter Matt Smith episodes work like that leading to it being resolved in The Name of the Doctor which was followed by The Time of the Doctor, which is when Capaldi walked into it all.
Capaldi basically walked into the Clara Oswald show, it was to me like they had some idea of bringing back The Sarah Jane Adventures as The Clara Oswald Adventures.

Maybe they should cancel it. Does Moffet still run this show? He does four episodes of Sherlock every two years and they're all brilliant and every episode of Doctor Who has been painful. And also, is it worth mentioning that Karen Gillian is a blockbuster star at this point and Bill/Pearl is an unknown? I'm not British but I'm pretty savy in Brit accents and she was really difficult to understand sometimes.
Jovay (20) 4 hours ago
Her accent hasn't bothered me much, the dialogue in general has though it's like:
"Wots dis button 'ere fur Docta.
Oh, don't push that button.
Why not Docta?
You don't want to know."
Or even to the extent Bill is going to accidently push the wrong button and the Doctor is going to say Oh, you shouldn't have done that. It's just been so laboured and clunky, it's like they've taken one part Rose and added one part Donna, then dumbed it down to early Rory level for Bill and where do you start with the Doctor.
I mean:
I met an emperor made of algae once.
He fancied me. (long wistful look).
There's broadband in there.
Go! Go and watch some movies or something!
(various stuff from Bill)
And stay away from my browser history!
Really? They're taking the Doctor to that level of urgh now.

Capaldi is finally Doctor Who, the writing is worse than ever. It's very unfortunate. Such was the same with Matt Smith's last years. My fave Doctor, of all the Doctors, just shit writing.
