MUSE
"You have 20 seconds till ... compliance!!! ..."
The global pandemic led some songwriters to fall deep in to an abyss ... Muse came out kicking and screaming ...
'Euphoria' _ Muse
'Will Of The People' ~ MUSE (new album released Friday 26th August, 2022) : Music, Videos & NFT
“Will Of The People was created in Los Angeles and London and is influenced by the increasing uncertainty and instability in the world. A pandemic, new wars in Europe, massive protests & riots, an attempted insurrection, Western democracy wavering, rising authoritarianism, wildfires and natural disasters and the destabilization of the global order all informed Will Of The People. It has been a worrying and scary time for all of us as the Western empire and the natural world, which have cradled us for so long are genuinely threatened. This album is a personal navigation through those fears and preparation for what comes next.”

Listened to it last night. Ghosts (How Can I Move On) is my favorite one as of now.

There's an interesting backstory to this composition, which Matt Bellamy didn't think the band would probably want to use. Apparently, he's been answering questions about the song, regarding comparisons to the work of Adele, with enthusiastic agreement.
There's definitely a lot of homage on this new album, as with the retro-soaked 'Simulation Theory' (2018), and a similar sense of overload and fun.

I stopped caring about Muse a decade ago but I quite like the new album.
I imagine you might enjoy some of the heavier songs here. I like 'Kill Or Be Killed' and 'Don't Stand Down' a great deal. 'Will Of The People' makes me think of 'The Beautiful People' by Marilyn Manson every time I hear it, too close to my ears. My least favourite song on the album has to be the last one, 'We Are F*cking F*cked', complete overkill, I would have left it off the album despite Dominic Howard's exciting drum part.
From the last 10 years, I'd rank 'The 2nd Law' (2012) and 'Drones' (2015) from Muse among my favourite albums of the century so far. 'Simulation Theory' (2018) and 'Will Of The People' I have a more mixed response to, though both have songs that I love.

Still haven't listened to the last album, "Simulation Theory." Hopefully it's better than Drones...and The 2nd Law...and The Resistance. I liked those 3, but they left a lot to be desired.

I can't stop listening to the new album. I try to take a critical eye, but ... I guess I just love MUSE!!!!
