Jennifer Salt was a key member of filmmaker Brian De Palma's stock company in his early days. Jill Clayburgh was set to be but she moved on; Clayburgh was good friends with Al Pacino from the theatre, and Pacino knew De Palma whom he'd later work with in cinema. Character players William Finley, Allen Garfield, Charles Durning and Gerrit Graham were at the core of the company, as was young Robert De Niro who cut his cinematic teeth working with De Palma. Finley went on to become a key member of filmmaker Tobe Hooper's stock company.

Salt is the daughter of screenwriter Waldo Salt - a close associate of filmmaker Sidney Lumet - and actress Mary Davenport (she appears in several of De Palma's movies). This is significant as Lumet and De Palma both made films produced by Martin Bregman who could access the city of New York like no other (Lumet almost directed 'Scarface' which fell to De Palma).

She was great in Sisters. Eventually quit acting to persue a writing career.

She rocked that halter top in Gargoyles.
The same year she was Woody Allen's blind date in Play It Again, Sam, an actress:
"What movie were you in?"
"Gang Bang. Silly title, it wasn't the least bit sexy".
And Sisters was also 1972, so a busy year for her.
