My attitude toward recasting is mostly conservative. If they show up and do a good job, I'm all for it, but that's what I'll need as evidence that it's a good idea. Recasting is a pain. It's worked out great on some occasions but I still lean toward preferring the same actor from one movie to the next. If it's gotta be done at all, it's should be done early. If someone else showed up as Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, it'd be weird.
Elodie Yung was okay. For me, she and the Elektra story were the biggest drag of Daredevil season 2. She improved a lot in The Defenders. They made her a mostly non-speaking weapon, and I think it worked. Plus, as a young actress, having so much one on one time with Sigourney Weaver must have been great for her development.

The last Elektra was Cambodian, not sure why this is so much worse

Assuming this is true, I would take it as confirmation that the Netflix shows are non-canon.

She’s a very attractive gal. I’d watch her.

I haven't been all that pleased with the last two times they brought the character into live-action and their actress portrayals.
Jennifer Garner's Elektra was essentially a girl-next-door type with a slight edge, it felt that the filmmakers were trying to create an aspirational heroine for audiences but still stuck with scripts that painted a different story. Wonder Woman Elektra is not, sorry.
Elodie Yung had the femme fatale aspect going wonderfully for her and the right sense of thrill-seeking, but they made her a bit too unlikeable for me to really buy into her romance with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock.
This is not to say that I hold either actress responsible, it all boils down to the creatives were directed them that way.
I wouldn't mind Yung being brought back, but I wouldn't be against Gonzalez, either.
Too bad Gal Gadot is already Wonder Woman, she would have made a good Elektra.

She was distractingly hot in Ambulance.

She was distractingly hot in Ambulance. Haven't watched that one. Was it any good? I found her distractingly hot in From Dusk till Dawn.

Roles get recast within canon all the time. But why else would they need to recast Elodie Yung with someone who doesn’t even look like her? Maybe scheduling conflict, maybe a dispute in contractual agreements, heck maybe they just weren't happy with her portrayal. Or more likely, they're trying to bring more star power. Eiza is not exactly an A-lister but her star is rising a lot faster than Elodie Yung's.

They might as well start fresh.
