It certainly wasn't great and relied HEAVILY on 'stupid character syndrome' but Alien Covenant had some terrific nastiness and is good for fans of the series. Doesn't live up to the first two installments, but certainly surpasses some other entries. It sounds like it is following the recipe of its predecessor. I remember thinking that Prometheus had its fair share of characters doing stupid things. Wasnβt there a guy who one moment was scared of everything and then in the next scene was killed while trying to pet an alien creature? In any case, I am planning on watching it later this week. That was two different characters but they were in the same scenes together. I know Prometheus has its fair share of problems, but it's visually striking if you have a good system. This movie is closer to a real Alien movie, frought with gore, monsters and more gore. It ain't perfect but if you like the first three installments then you should enjoy this one as well.

Alien 3 > Aliens Alien 3 directors cut > Aliens > Alien 3 theatrical. We should all watch Aliens to get sentimental over Bill Paxton. He's actually awesome in that role. alien 3 is tremendous. gritty, dark impending doom atmosphere - Ripley not only has to get past the 'alien' but a planet of hard core criminals who haven't seen a woman in years - love they started off so dark and decided to go the route 'Newt' had died in the spacecraft. Aliens was great - but i look at that as kind of a 'summer blockbuster' flick ala Terminator 2 - and there's nothing wrong with that - i loved both - but Alien 3 gets crapped on because it's pretty much a sequel not living up to 'The Exorcist' - and fyi - I regard Exorcist III with George C. Scott as the superior film to The Exorcist

Duel is tremendous. Own it. Give it a watch once a year or so. Correct me if I'm wrong - but I think Spielberg was involved. Give 'Joy Ride' a watch - doesn't compare - but it's still a fun ride and a more modern take on this classic. Yep, It is Steven Spielberg's First Movie.

Love the consistency. I admit that I have a chuckle (or at least smile) every time you post something about Larry Crowne. Haven't seen anything good lately - been catching up on The Americans, and watching Better Call Saul and Fargo. My fave, recent movie: Moonlight Little knows/seen film I like recommending to my friends: The Lunchbox (really great Indian film) thanks! your picks sound good too.
