Shaq was constantly criticized and teased about his free throw shooting. Even today you find dozens of memes and YouTube videos about it.
But what did he do? He constantly worked to get better at it (even though he never did). He even made fun of himself about it and always took responsibility for his own failure at it.
Not once did he complain that fans or the media was being too hard on him. Not once did he assert that he was being bullied or emotionally abused. Not once did he sit out games over it and demand to still get paid for them. Not once did he demand to be traded “to a city that’s going to be nicer (to him) about his free throw shooting”.
I just can’t feel that sorry for Big Ben. And I don’t think I ever will.

4:20 mark - I actually felt for him here.... Ben was asked to lift weights.... I mean - he's got a point, no? What are you going to ask Mike Tyson to work on his uppercut?

Probably any modern great who grows up in a country where a sport has the status of almost religion. While I agree that LeBron has the pettiest detractors of any athlete I can remember but is he really under more pressure and scrutiny when be walks onto the court than Lionel Messi or Virat Kohli are now, or Diego Maradona or Imran Khan in their primes in the 1980s?

Winning the last fight of his career handily -
He was unfairly and mercilessly booed by his ungrateful home country

That depends on what you mean by scrutinized?? I know she had been very scrutinized at one time, not necessary for her skill

And the Answer was asked to show up for practice… Did he sit out a season and demand to get paid for it? Did he claim mental abuse? Did he demand to get traded? No! Instead he just did this… And thank goodness he did! Now we’re blessed with one of the greatest sports meme moments of all time!

Back when she was playing she got a lot of grief and scrutiny because she had a modeling career at the same time she was playing tennis. So people (and even occasionally the media) tried to make it seem like she was making a mockery of both of her careers because she wasn’t fully committed to one or the other. Imagine that!

A.I. is my favorite player in any sport But these are different times I just don't think people today understand 'Todays' athlete ......hence the criticism on young Benjamin

We all know how scrutinized A-Rod was in NY as a Yankees. Do people outside of NY knew the scrutiny Patrick Ewing had to endured during his Knicks year? The expectation was very high for him to bring Knicks a championship. Unfortunately, his career paralleled that of Michael Jordan and a multitude of the superstars in the 90s, may be more talents than any other time. He was unfairly over-criticized for not able to deliver. The Knicks management was the ones who failed him.

Poor guy committed suicide After the first few games when all realized he was just an ordinary pitcher, nobody paid much attention about him. The Boss was just disappointed that he was not the Japanese Nolan Ryan. People may have forgotten that he had a great run in the 1998 season before the All-Star game. He could have been the All-Star starter if he did not bomb so badly the few starts leading up to the game.

Justin Fields is getting up there, too. Kid gets crucified every week. He's a second-year QB with nothing around him. NFL fans need to show a little more patience.
