I knew he wasn't going anywhere.
Another shitty two years (at least) to looks forward to then!

Did the FA Cup win influence the decision, or was he a shoo-in to stay anyway ?

Did the FA Cup win influence the decision, or was he a shoo-in to stay anyway ? Anyone's guess, isn't it? With this bloke, you never know. I did read Ian Wright this morning saying that he had a horrible feeling that Wenger would walk away "and leave the club in the lurch." Quite what Wright's definition of lurch is, I don't know, but for my money it was never in Wenger's head to leave, FA Cup win or no.

No surprise.
You never know, he might regain the magic touch. After all, remember all those other managers who stopped being good for 13 years in a row then suddenly got really good again.

Robbie must be doing some fistpumps today. Must be a weird situation when you know if your team loses you are going to make a lot more money.
3 FA Cups in 4 years though, that's pretty good. And when Wenger looked like he had completely lost the dressing room, he brought them back together again, deserves some credit for that.
I was thinking about who might win the Premier League next year... again it is hard to call...
Chelsea - showed slight frailties towards the end, and with CL football back, hard to see them doing quite as well as last year Tottenham - If they get off to a flyer at their new home, who knows, they might be hard to catch, if not it might be a struggle at first. They could do with Huddersfield, Brighton and Swansea as their first 3 home fixtures. Man City - Need to get over their inconsistency, but is much going to change next season knowing Pep's stubbornness to change? I don't know Liverpool - Like Chelsea, with European football back, hard to see them doing as well next year. They might actually struggle with the extra games.. Man United - Will probably do better if they make good attacking signings and they settle in quick. A lot depends on the summer with them, the current squad certainly wont cut it.
So that leaves me with Arsenal, if they can hold onto Alexis, play their kids in the Europa Cup, make a couple of smart signings, then you'd have to say they are surely in with a shot?
Some Arsenal fans might not want to hear it, but holding onto Wenger is the smart play here.

Meh, their 16/17 campaign was a shock to their expectations. I think the owners want to see more proof if he's truly lost it than the bigger shock of having to search for & name his replacement.

I knew he wasn't going anywhere. Another shitty two years (at least) to looks forward to then! Although I know what you mean, he's still won silverware three years out of four. The question I don't know enough to answer is whether their recent consistent failure in Champions League is on him or if they're missing a player or two needed to put them over the top. Would be nice to actually win the EPL again some time soon, too.
