From a story and script by John Carpenter. It’s unfortunate he didn’t also direct. Tommy Lee plays Quint, a master thieve tasked with stealing incriminating evidence. Said evidence is hidden in an ugly looking experimental car. Said car is stolen by Sarah Connor and locked away in a security heavy building owned by Robert Vaughn. He has a bunch of other cars stolen as well. The guy is definitely wealthy so I’m not sure why he has to steal expensive cars.
Quint got three days to get the cassette back (this is the 1980s) or Officer Hightower is gonna mess him up. This is one of those movies where I wasn’t bored but it’s really nothing special. The most tense moment is Quint’s cliffhanger moment when roping between two buildings. The romance between him and Connor is a bit contrived, as well.

You might appreciate Eyes of Laura Mars more, which was also co-written by Carpenter and co-stars TLJ. Directed by Irvin Kershner right before The Empire Strikes Back.

A masterpiece and a classic of the Eighties. Epic.
