If I may (not trying to get into an argument), whatever you think of the Bible, it has been accepted by many religions and even secularists for thousands of years that there was once a worldwide flood. Today we can see evidence to support it. One modern theory is
that there was a canopy of water in low orbit surrounding the earth. It got too low at some point and finally split open creating a worldwide flood. This idea leads me to speculate as to the possibility that this canopy would have facilitated longer life spans by keeping out direct sunlight and thereby slowing the process of thermodynamics on the earth. Worth considering.
I've never heard of this theory...
Most people are now coming to believe, in what I call, "The Great Cataclysm"... and scientists support much of it...
1.) Göbekli Tepe
Dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic, between c.
9500 and 8000 BCE. (
10,000+ years ago)... The Vulture Stone seems to depict what appears to be a
comet or meteor impact with Earth...
2.) The Younger Dryas impact hypothesis
3.) The Last Glacial Period (LGP)
Also known colloquially as "the last ice age"... Came to an end, approximately
11,700 years ago.
Concerning how close these dates are to Each other in the long history of our planet, the timing doesn't appear to be much of a "Coincidence"...
4.) ATLANTIS
Plato introduced Atlantis in Timaeus, written in 360 BC... He says that Atlantis was destroyed about 9,000 years before his time... Around
9,360 BCE... Also around the same time in Earth's history.
Plato also said "
With violent earthquakes and floods; and in a single day and night of misfortune all your warlike men in a body sank into the Earth"... Well SINKING could be a mis-interpretation of events, since he mentions floods. Just watch the local news. We encounter floods all the time, but land doesn't literally "Sink", but it does appear to do so, since the land in under water for days...
5.) The Glaciers...
During The Last Ice Age... Great sheets of ice,
two miles thick, covered much of Earth's Northern Hemisphere
TWO MILES THICK!... Think of that for a moment. Go outside of your home, and look up. TWO MILES UP. That is where the surface of the Ice Sheet was...
But it is not there now, because it Melted... But all that water isn't still covering our homes... So Where did it go?
(ICE CUBE SCIENCE)
Go heat up an ice cube, and see what happens... Well, we know what happens, it melts rapidly...
So, If during the last Ice age, the Earth suddenly was on fire, what do think would have happened to that sheet of ice? It probably would have melted quickly too...
(IMPACT)
If there was a great impact during the last ice age, it probably hit one of those two miles thick glacial sheets... and when it melted there would be no crater left to find...
Comets or Meteors would have been on fire, and would have quickly melted the ice as well... The Sudden Melting of that much ice, would have created Massive Flooding... and depending of how fast it accumulated it would have formed large waves of Water moving across the Planet... Any space objects hitting lakes and oceans would have created Tidal Waves too...
6.) Noah's Flood?
Yeah, OK, A single flood covering the entire planet? That seems impossible... Especially when it has been said it covered even the tallest mountains. What? MT. Everest is the tallest planet on Earth, and it is (Currently) 29,031.7 ft above atmospheric Sea Level... So, a 29,031 FT thick layer of water, comes out of nowhere and completely covers the planet for days, and then all that water vanishes with out a trace? Yeah. Completely Absurd. And according to modern day Science, such an event like that, can't happen.
AND... It raises serious questions about some of the life forms, such as Sea Life, surving in or under all that fresh water, for days/months... Plus Noah wouldn't be able to store all the food he needed for his family on the Ark, and for all the animals that were on board for that length of time... No quickie marts along the way to grocery shop, and it all would have been underwater anyway...
Yeah. Complete nonsense...
However, why does every ancient culture on Earth, describe such an event if it didn't happen?... Most Myths are usually based on, SOMETHING...
(Global Storms)
With all that space debris coming into the atmosphere, dirt getting kicked up into the atmosphere from numerous small impacts, rapid glacier melting, and tidal waves happening all over the globe... and numerous fires burning as well...
There was water flowing all over the Earth, and evaporating, creating a lot of humidity in the air... Well, the atmosphere was probably very chaotic. On a scale, the likes we have never seen...
It seems unlikely that there wasn't at least a few, or several thousand?, Thunderstorms happening across the planet...
7.) "It Rained For 40 Days and 40 Nights"?
Ahem. Still with me?...
With such a great cataclysm happening on a scale that no one has ever seen in modern times, and with unprecidented amounts of water flowing and raining all over the planet...
I don't think any can prove that it didn't happen.
CONCLUSION...
The Great Flood DID happen... Just not as it has been described... It wasn't "Noah's Flood", it was a series of Local Floods that happened all around the world at the same time...
But Why "Noah's Flood"?...
Short Answer... VOCABULARY!
Longer Answer...
It has been said that ancient peoples were not aware of the Americas... Well not quite. The Native Americans did... But, point being, most people were not familiar with other parts of the world, because Sailing ships were primitive, and there were not Automobiles, Trains, or Planes... Yeah, they didn't explore much...
Most people stayed home. Their ENTIRE lives...
Also prior to about just a couple hundred years ago... Our vocabulary and conceptual ideas were severely limited...
I doubt most ancient peoples knew what a "Flood Plain" was...
When you build your home in a Flood Plain and for generations nothing ever happened, and then suddenly everything you knew is gone and underwater... You too will think the "world" (as you know it) is ending, and will want answers and an explanation...
For them, the only answer that they could come up with was.. "God sent a great flood to kill us all"
But God Sent A Flood? Not Really... However, I'm not saying that God didn't send the comet, knowing what would happen.
One last thing...
8.) But, I was taught that the Ice Age didn't suddenly end "overnight"... did it?
Ever hear of a "Nuclear Winter"? No. Not with nuclear weapons...
This is just what most people say due to the threat of Nuclear War during the Cold War... But, the same end result can happen from a Super Volcano, or a Massive impact with the Earth... Sending huge amounts of Dust and Debris into the Atmosphere blocking out the sun... and let's not forget about all those storms happening for over a month as well. Lots of Cloud Cover...
Yes. Scientists do "say", that the Earth cooled back down and went back into a Mini Ice age for about another 1000 years or so...
And if this sudden Warm up and Cool down happened in just a year or so, when people were only focused and worried about flooding, looking for new homes on higher ground, and just surviving this great cataclysm... They probably weren't tracking global temperatures changes for their history books, and didn't notice.
Yes, it's true, "The Great Cataclysm" theory hasn't been proven to be a historical fact, yet...
But when you look at all the data, the events, ETC... It all comes nicely together, and "fits like a glove"... Well, the dates don't match up 100%, but most of those are just estimates, and are not set in stone. None of us were there to verify them. But they are close enough in time that they could have happened much closer together...
It's really the best theory out there, at least for now.
