Throughout the month, I have watched my choices for the most chilling episodes of Doctor Who (New Series), the ones most appropriate for Halloween.
“The Empty Child” Season 1, Episode 9 (May 6, 2006) “The Doctor Dances” Season 1, Episode 10 (May 13, 2006). This two-parter features the creepy little boy in the gas mask who keeps asking, “Are you my mummy?” Don’t. Touch. The little boy. The Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and Rose (Billy Piper) meet Captain Jack Harkness(John Barrowman).
“Tooth and Claw” Season 2, Episode 2. (October 6, 2006) The Doctor (David Tennant) and Rose try to protect Queen Victoria from a monster-sized werewolf.
“Blink” Season 3, Episode 10. (June 9, 2007) Carey Mulligan guests as the wonderfully named Sally Sparrow. The introduction of the Weeping Angels, stone statues when you are looking at them but whatever you do…don’t look away, they are incredibly fast. Don’t even blink! Whenever a fan forum is asked to name the best episode to introduce someone to the show, “Blink” is usually (always?) the most mentioned title.
“Silence In The Library” Season 4, Episode 8 (June 20, 2008) “Forests Of The Dead” Season 4, Episode 9) Two-parter. The Vashta Nerada. They are what are in the shadows and can strip you to the bone in the snap of a finger. Dr. River Song (Alex Kingston) makes her first appearance. Can’t say more. Spoilers.
“The Time Of The Angels” Season 5, Episode 4 (April 24, 2010) “Flesh And Stone” Season 5, Episode 5 (May 1, 2010) The Doctor (Matt Smith) and Amy (Karen Gillan) explore a cavern where they discover the Weeping Angels. Knucle gnawing suspense.
“Mummy on the Orient Express” Season 8, Episode 8 (October 11, 2014) The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara (Jenna Coleman) are riding the outer space tourist version of the Orient Express. Also on board is the Foretold, a seemingly immortal mummy(?) that, when it appears to you, you have 66 seconds to live. The Doctor has just that much time to learn its secret.
“Last Christmas” Holiday Special (December 25, 2014). The Doctor and Clara are trapped on a scientific base at the North Pole where the crew are fighting some face hugging creatures. And what is Santa Claus doing there? Is this a dream? A dream within a dream within a dream? A scary and mind-bending story.

Great Choices...
Here's a few more that you might enjoy:
"42" is the seventh episode of the third season...
In the episode, the cargo spaceship SS Pentallian is on a crash course with the living star its crew ripped out a part of for cheap fuel. On board the ship, the star possesses and attacks the Pentallian crewmembers one by one for doing this.
"Midnight" is the tenth episode of the fourth season...
The episode is principally set on board a small touring vehicle, which stops in the middle of a tour on the hostile surface of the planet Midnight and has its cockpit destroyed with its driver and mechanic. The unseen assailant is depicted only through sound effects and its possession of one of the vehicle's passengers, Sky Silvestry (Lesley Sharp), who repeats the words of the other passengers on board.
"The Waters of Mars" is the third episode of the 2008–2010 specials...
The story is set on Mars in the year 2059 where the Doctor encounters the first human colony, Bowie Base One. This is commanded by Captain Adelaide Brooke, who turns out to be a pivotal character in the history of humanity.[7] The Doctor must decide whether to use his knowledge of her fate to change history.
All scary stories which also involve characters being possessed...

In the episode, alien time traveller the Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companion Clara Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman) visit a mansion in 1974 owned by Professor Alec Palmer (Dougray Scott), which appears to be haunted. Palmer's assistant, Emma Grayling (Jessica Raine), is an empath who is able to connect to the ghost. The Doctor discovers that the ghost is really a time traveller from the future (Kemi-Bo Jacobs) who is trapped in a pocket universe, and he travels there to rescue her. There he discovers a bizarre "Crooked Man" (Aiden Cook)...

"Midnight" which immediately follows "Silence In The Library"/"Forests Of The Dead," is such a great work of writing, directing, and acting. Just love it. EDIT: After watching a video of how the fast movie simultaneous repetitions were done, I have to add the fine work of the Sound techies.
