B
Fairly decent horror starring Edward G. Robinson. Offers a classic trope 'No one go near that red house in the woods, or else', albeit with a nice slow burn to the actual 'horror' stuff. Starts off Leave it to Beaver'ish, finishes a bit Hitchcockian... not bad for 1947.

7.5/10 - Pretty darn good noir mystery thriller.

7.5/10 - Pretty darn good noir mystery thriller. Yeah, it's not really a horror. I just saw that at wikipedia & imdb as all. Still, for 1947, I suppose that's what qualified. I knew nothing at all of the film, always refreshing that, going in blank slate ready for anything.

Another fine performance from Eddie G. Robinson even though it doesn't ask much of him. Still, intriguing dark mystery.
