The first option. I just need a friendly greeting and for them to ask which payment method I'm using, ending off with a "Thanks, have a nice day." No need to start any conversation, I just want to buy my things and go.

Generally in Norway cashiers only say about four things, and its not always
1. Hello
2. Do you want a bag
3. Do you want the recite
4. Goodbye
I am fine with that. more than that would just be strange.

The bare minimum. Just don't act like it's a chore to take care of me. I've had cashiers roll their eyes, sigh and put a pissy look on their face when I come into their aisle. Not cool. I don't like too bubbly because i know it's fake

I'm fine with any of the first 3. I chat easily, but I don't have to.
As a customer, I find the last option to be unpleasant. However, when I was in school, I worked a couple of retail jobs. There was enormous pressure to get customers to sign up for the chain's credit card, and/or to take advantage of other "offers." Your success in this realm, came into consideration when the annual "review," ... RAISE ... came about. So, I'm tolerant.
