Watched it for the first time and I’m not sure what to think. You kind of expect one of the best thrillers ever since you have someone like Scorsese directing. A lot of effective individual scenes but De Niro is maybe too over the top and elements of the plot just seem totally ludicrous. Going to have to sleep on this one Love the poster though

Yay
One of Scorsese's most OTT movies and that is why I like it as much as I do. It is a very creepy movie.
It more or less takes the original Cape Fear and pumps everything up to 10. If you are going to remake a movie like Cape Fear then I think why not just totally go for a different style all-together? It goes for more the sleazy horror route and I think it does that very well.

It is dog shit. It tries to be profound by making the family dysfunctional but that's just rubbish. I say stick with the original, that's where it's really at.

It's pretty ridiculous at times but I say yay. Still never watched the original from the 60s.

At the very least it helped inspire one of the funniest Simpsons episodes.

Yay. It was a popcorn thriller with some enjoyable performances. Robert De Niro is over-the-top but he still holds your attention.

The scene between De Niro and Juliette Lewis is unwatchable and the multiple climaxes at the end are as cliche dumb as a grade z holiday slasher. Ugly movie.

Yay for the most part....however I was never really thrilled with Robert De Niro's performance here. I feel like he really overdid it and as a result he comes across to me like something of a cartoon character and he just isn't very scary. Supposedly Brad Dourif was up for this part as well and I think he would have been a far better choice.

Original's better.
I know it's a given teenagers are stupid, but their daughter really crossed the line into de-de-dee territory. How does she even find her way to school?
