Is this the best we can do as a species that made it through on being cut throat, murderous, and super hairy?
Also, is it possible that another life form from another world could somehow be a product of something other than NS?

Natural selection doesn't necessarily favour the ruthless individual though. Sometimes animals that work together might have better prospects for survival.

I'm not sure what you mean, while capitalism can be exploitive (particularly towards third world nations), there's no inherent "darwinistic" mechanisms behind it (the weak get weeded out of the gene pool), in fact populations and lifespans have INCREASED dramatically under capitalism, not that I'm necesarilly attributing that to capitalism itself, but that's just the reality. Or are you talking more in a metaphorical sense in that capitalism tends to reward the smarter and more hard working people (meritocracy) and the inept get put towards the bottom? Because that's not always the case, there's plenty of smart hard working people toiling away (especially thanks to heavy student loan debt) and inept clowns in the top 1% (Elon Musk comes to mind).

Well life on Earth didn't originally come about through NS (it most likely came about through abiogenesis), so yes. Or are you asking is it possible for species diversity to come about without NS? Cause a lot of that actually has to do with random mutations rather than NS itself. NS is just kinda the final deciding factor if certain random mutations should stay or go.
