I wouldn't put all the blame on him if he did remake ESB. Disney is determined to play it safe, and it would come as no surprise to me if they bullied him into doing their bidding.

Disney is determined to play it safe, and it would come as no surprise to me if they bullied him into doing their bidding. yes, and the things we have seen so far only feed the rehash concerns these fans have.
Beginning with the generic title, to the derivative ANH-like poster card, to the AT-AT design and attack (hey they now have a gun on the back and broader legs: imagination galore), the rebel fleet with X- and A- wings, the cave training and all the other elements similar to the OT, there is good reason to be concerned.
Also, I did not find Looper that original, but just an assembly of better films, plus a big plot hole (6/10).
But in the end I am positive that this movie will bring more novelty, originality and creativity than TFA under JJ Abrams ever could.

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SAYS IT! As much as he tries, the source material is shit, so at best it's just going to be shiny shit.
