Was steve perry in fact the first over-singer ever?

I'm saying, as far as I know with modern pop music most singers seem to over sing.

They will sing one song with far more notes than the song is required.

But, I'm saying steve perry did the same thing with most journey songs. Way more earlier. Making him the first over-singer in pop music.

I realize that with journey, there's more bad things to complain about than just the singing. But still.
