I despised this when I saw it many years ago, and never really felt, that it deserved a second viewing. I recall it being neither a good action movie nor an effective thriller, and Gary Sinise's bad guy was pretty annoying.
Critical consensus back when it came out was also very negative and Charlize Theron herself called it "the worst film she ever did".
Ben Affleck didn't seem to have much luck with Christmas movies, also see Surviving Christmas.

I just remember Theron taking her top off. That’s all that matters.

To think this was John Frankenheimer’s last movie he directed.

I just remember Theron taking her top off. 2 Days in the Valley. A topless scene AND a catfight with Teri Hatcher (in separate scenes, of course). See that movie.

Saw it once and yes, "despised" is a good word.

There are certainly problems: The movie’s reveals and double-crosses hit their marks exactly when you will expect them and there are instances of clunky dialog (the mastermind, about the kill Affleck, stops to explain his entire scheme). But this is entertaining enough if you can suspend disbelief for the run time. Ben and Charlize are a couple of charismatic actors, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that they play the main characters. Dennis Farina is good as the desperate casino manager. I should now admit that I have a weakness for heist movies so am automatically predisposed to liking it.
