Any fans of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles? How has it held up after 50 years?
I haven't heard the whole album in a very long time. I do remember thinking that it's very good although I don't know if I'd call it a masterpiece and I don't think it's the best album by The Beatles.

May not be their best but I can understand why it's so highly regarded. I can't understand why as much fuss is not made of Pet Sounds, which was released just before it.

There is a Sgt Pepper special on PBS Saturday night 8 pm EDT, and a making of Pet Sounds show on Amazon that I noticed yesterday.

Was watching an interview yesterday, with the New York Times critic who panned Sgt. Pepper, when it came out in 1967.
He admits, 'I fucked up!'. Apparently, he listened to the album with a broken speaker, and didn't realize that he was listening to the album through one speaker.
Two other mistakes in this clip, listening to a record on a Crosley, and trying to listen to the record without taking the needle guard off.
Welcome to Amateursville...

I listen to Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band about 3 days ago
I don`t think its their best album. I would put it behind Revolver, Rubber Soul and The White Album

I don't think it's perfect. She's Leaving Home is almost criminally awful. But it's long on influence and breaking new ground. So there's that.

That critic might have screwed up, but not as bad as the guy at Decca who blanked them.
