I always thought this was an overlooked Western, and an unusual one since it takes place in Argentina rather than the US, Mexico, or Canada. Fortunately, someone uploaded it to YouTube recently, and it looks like a good-quality copy.
The villains in this movie are tough gauchos. They have a somewhat barbaric method for deciding which woman should be mated with which man, but looking at it through a cold objective lens, it sure saves a lot of divorce court hassle.

Apparently it's a remake of a 1945 Argentine movie, helmed by one of the original directors.

Douglas Fairbanks' The Gaucho is a very entertaining film. It's also notable for having moments that are clearly influenced by Harold Lloyd.
Way of A Gaucho (1952) is an OK diversion. This was the only time Rory Calhoun was given the lead in a big studio production. The film failed at the box office, and RC would spend the rest of his leading man career in programmers. He's one of my favorite western stars of the period, although few of his films (Gaucho included) permit him to show the lighter touch he was capable of.
My favorite RC performance is actually in an episode of Bonanza, where he plays a smiling drifter who saves the life of Adam, who then must decide if his new friend is actually a murderer.

Gee, I remember Rory Calhoun playing the lead in several films, but maybe they weren't considered big ones.

I recall the villain in Savage Pampas reminded me of Gian Maria Volonte. Now that you mention it, yes. It must have been the smile. Ron Randell....the only other thing I remember seeing him in was a first season episode of The Wild Wild West called "The Night of the Fatal Trap." He played a Mexican villain in that one. In real life he was Australian.
