I hope he doesn’t think he can now do Broadway.

Do It Again by Steely Dan In the movies you go Gunn-in' for the man who stole your water And you fire 'til he is done-in but they catch you at the border And the mourners are all singin' as they drag you by your feet But the hangman isn't hangin' and they put you on the street You go back, Drax, do it again, wheel turnin' 'round and 'round You go back, Drax, do it again When you know she's no high climber then you find your only friend In a room with your two-timer, and you're sure you're near the end Then you love a little wild one and she brings you only sorrow All the time you know she's smilin' you'll be on your knees tomorrow, yeah You go back, Drax, do it again, wheel turnin' 'round and 'round You go back, Drax, do it again Now you swear and kick and beg us that you're not a gamblin' man Then you find you're back in Marvel with a handle in your hand The MCU can make you money so you play it when you're able In the land of milk and honey, you must put them on the table You go back, Drax, do it again, wheels turnin' 'round and 'round You go back, Drax, do it again

Good for him. It’s kind of funny to think that a former wrestler is at the point where he feels he’s outgrown superhero movies, but between Dave Bautista, The Rock and John Cena, Bautista’s clearly the one who has the most potential as an actual respected actor.

And Drax did have many particularly cringey lines.

Dave Bautista takes himself way too seriously he's a wall of ink but he thinks he's Shakespeare at the royal theatre hall. Even you must appreciate how absolutely hilarious he is becoming. He should play a baddie soon to be killed by Nicolas Cage in Con Air. He just doesn't convince but if you like him you like him. Playing a 53 year old YouTuber impresses you?

I remember him wanting to play Bane for the DCEU a few years ago. But I think by the time that gets going, he'll be too old for the part. Though I guess they could just make him a CGI character when he grows stronger.

I guess he'll switch from James Gunn to Denis Villeneuve.

His size and appearance work against him. I've never seen in much beyond the MCU, so I have no idea if he can act or not. As Drax, he performs more than acts.

Here's an article featuring the actual quote, instead of a biased reaction video which misrepresents everything he said. Remember when James Gunn was fired by Disney and Bautista was so angry he threatened to quit? He certainly didn't hate the role that much. I can see getting bored with that role and wanting to move on to other projects, but this reaction video tries to make it sound like he absolutely hated playing Drax, which is clearly not the case.

Which is clearly on display in Knock at the Cabin. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out just to see exactly what Bautista is capable of as an actor. Based on what I saw, clearly a lot, and definitely much more than he's been able or allowed to show previously.

He’s like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa.

He’s like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa. He's definitely way better than those two based on Knock at the Cabin. Neither of them could pull off what Bautista does in that movie without a straight face. In fact, you usually see neither without a straight face. They haven't yet demonstrated that they're capable. Bautista already has.
