First Time Viewing Child's Play (1988; Tom Holland) - Having never seen a Chucky movie before I thought this was surprisingly well-made and mostly fun, even though I found the first half a bit slow, but it does pick up in the second. 6.5/10 Prizzi's Honor (1985; John Huston) - With so much talent involved this Maffia comedy should've really been a lot better. As it is, it's pretty dull. Jack Nicholson felt miscast in a bland role and I never bought into the central romance between his and Kathleen Turner's characters. The movie also takes ages to get to the actual point and uses every Italian-American cliché you can think of. 4.5/10 TV Jonathan Creek - Satan's Chimney (2001) - An overlong but ingenious Christmas special with one of the best locked-room murder tricks I ever encountered. 7.5/10 Repeat Viewing Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014; Matthew Vaughn) - While it does have its moments I also find this Bond parody to be a bit too juvenile and lacking tension. The great cast saves it, even though Sam Jackson's villain is not threatening and too silly. 6.5/10 Child's Play - Good slasher. 7/10 Prizzi's Honor - 6.5/10 Kingsman: The Secret Service - Fun movie. 7.5/10

Running Scared - 6/10 The Star Chamber - 7/10 Reservoir Dogs - 10/10 Mine: Black Adam (2022) - 5/10
OK DC superhero film. Great looking but not that entertaining. On the Line (2022) - 5/10
Mel Gibson is a radio DJ who gets a insane caller whos keeping his family hostage. Alright but the ending is just nuts. Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe (2022) - 8/10
One of my favorite shows as a kid. Years later Beavis and Butt-Head are still as funny as ever. Collide (2016) - 5/10
Very average action thriller with Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsly. Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts (2015) - 5/10
OK animated Batman film. The Most Dangerous Game (2022) - 2/10
Really bad remake of the 1932 film. Not much even happens. None of yours this week, though I'll probably get to Black Adam sometime soon.

Welcome back to another week of the BEST & WORST edition of 'what movies did you see last week?' thread. For those who haven't been part of it before, basically your host (me) posts my weekly movies and you can comment on those and list your movie for the same time frame. I will get back to you on yours and you can talk to other users here about their films. It's a great place to talk about film. FIRST TIME FILM VIEWINGBusting (1974, Peter Hyams)This buddy cop film has some inventive and influential action scenes. One chase scene is paid homage to in Reservoir Dogs. 7/10Running Scared (1986, Peter Hyams)Another buddy cop film from Hyams, this one also has humour in it but feels a more conventional comedy and not as hard nosed. Still pretty good though. 6/10The Star Chamber (1983, Peter Hyams)Solid enough film about a judge (Michael Douglas) who is sick of having tontura lose criminals on technicalities. It takes far too long to get to the point of the film but the third act brings it all home pretty well. 6/10The Glass Wall (1953, Maxwell Shane)Solid film about an immigrant who jumps ship in New York to track down a man who can prove his case to be let in the country. First two acts are fun and interesting but the third act gets a little treacly. 6/10The Menu (2022, Mark Mylod)I found this one interesting enough throughout but never bought anything that was happening or how characters reacted. 6/10Sirocco (1951, Curtis Bernhardt)A Humphrey Bogart pic, pretty mid tier. 5.5/10Onward (2020, Dan Scanlon) Disney+Fantasy Pixar film that pays homage to a lot better films. 5.5/10Turning Red (2022, Domee Shi) Disney+Has its moments but also is kind of annoying at times. 5/10The Family Secret (1951, Henry Levin)Okay enough court room drama. 5/10REPEAT MOVIE VIEWING The Driver (1978, Walter Hill) 4K UHD DiscA corner stone of cool cinema taking a lot of influence from European neo noir, in particular Le Samourai. 9/10Reservoir Dogs (1992, Quentin Tarantino) 4K UHD DiscReservoir Dogs has always had a rough road on home video, dvd and blu ray but this new 4k disc has been done right. It has breathed new life into this classic. Still one of Tarantino’s best. 8.5/10Angel Heart (1987, Alan Parker) 4K UHD DiscProbably the best super natural neo noir of all time. 8.5/10WEEKLY FILM AWARDSBEST FILM: The Driver BEST ACTOR: Mickey Rourke - Angel Heart BEST ACTRESS: Isabelle Adjani - The Driver BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Robert DeNiro - Angel Heart BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Charlotte Rampling - Angel Heart BEST EDITING: Tina Hirsch - The Driver BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Michael Seresin - Angel Heart BEST SCORE: Trevor Jones - Angel Heart BEST SCRIPT: Quentin Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs BEST DIRECTOR: Walter Hill - The Driver 10/10 - Perfection (or as close to it as possible) 09/10 - An Excellent film 08/10 - A VERY Good film 07/10 - A Good film 06/10 - A Solid film 05/10 - An Average film 04/10 - Below Average film 03/10 - A mostly bad film 02/10 - A mostly terrible film 01/10 - Awful through and through 00/10 - Not only awful but offensive Hi, Dark. Here I am. I'm curious about Busting. Yours: Running Scared 8/10 I havent' seen it in ages. I remember liking it. I've seen The Star Chamber, but I really don't remember a lot. The Menu 7/10 I thought it was O.K., a bit bland, maybe. The Driver 9/10 Oh, yeah, classic. I think it's really underrated. Reservoir Dogs 8.5/10 Yep, love it. Angel Heart 8/10 Yeah, I rewatched it recently, I really like it. Mickey Rourke is great. Mine: Barbarian 7.5/10 It's a horror movie about a girl going to Detroit for a job interview, and renting an a house there. She finds a guy also staying there, maybe for a jmistake, they hit it off, they decide to both stay for the night, but after a while things get strange. I enjoyed it, I liked the twists, I'm not crazy about the ending, maybe though. The Wolf of Wall Street 9/10 Martin Scorsese movie, with Leonardo Di Caprio. It's really, really great, a blast so powerful and wild it really holds up. Leo is fantastic. Loved Margot Robbie too, she's really funny in it, I didn't remember that. Harold and Maude 8.5/10 It's Hal Ashby movie, with Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon, about a young man, from a wealthy family, obsessed with death, with a very dark sense of humour, who meets a weird old lady, a free spirit, who likes to hang out at funerals, they hit it off, form a friendship, and then fall in love. Loved it, it's a blast, very sweet too, I loved the dark humour. Ruth Gordon was great. Aftersun 8.5/10 It's Charlotte Wells movie, about a woman remembering a nice holiday in Turkey she made with her father when she was 11, and her relationship with him, who was quite a tormented guy. Loved it, I found maybe a bit hard to get into it at the beginning, but then I loved the style. I loved the ending too. I also liked that it's not really spelled out what happened to her father, but it's heavily suggested. I thought Paul Mescal, the actor who plays him, was really good. I read he will star in the Gladiator sequel.

Yeah, Wolf of Wall Street is really a blast too. About horror movies, have you seen the trailer for the new Evil Dead?

Hey Billy Hmm, bland is not a word I thought I’d read to describe the menu yours barbarian - I thought it was okay with the first segment being the best 5.5 harold and Maude - charming and fun rhomp. 7/10 wplf of Wall Street - deliciously decorated and a lot of fun 7.5/10 I liked the second segment too, even because I really didn't see it coming (I knew a bit about the plot, the premise, but not much else). Yeah, Wolf of Wall Street is really a blast too. About horror movies, have you seen the trailer for the new Evil Dead? Yeah, I wasn’t that impressed

6.5/10 Hey Raven, Child's Play (1988; Tom Holland) 7/10 Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014; Matthew Vaughn) 7/10 I'm intrigued by the Jonathan Creek special. I have Prizzi's Honor but haven't got round to it yet.

About horror movies, have you seen the trailer for the new Evil Dead? Yeah, I wasn’t that impressed About The Menu, I actually wish it would have been more horror, so, yeah, in that sense, I think it could have been wilder. The Evil Dead Rise trailers are O.K., IMO, but I do think the green band one is actually better.

Barbarian - I enjoyed the different directions they went with this one. 7.5/10 The Wolf of Wall Street - A favorite of mine. DiCaprio is brilliant, the rest of the cast is fun, and the movie itself is extremely entertaining. 9/10 Harold and Maude - Should probably watch this again. I liked it though. 7/10 Aftersun - 7.5/10
