Supergirl -The film is stupid, and embarrassing, but has its moments. Jerry Goldsmith's score is pretty good though.
Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III -Much as I enjoy watching Rambo kill lots of bad foreign people, the second and third movies have a hilarious po-faced oh so serious vibe that doesn't gel well with the daftest stuff. But Jerry Goldsmith's score helps pump the adrenaline!
The House on Sorority Row -This is an OK early 80s slasher, kinda edging more towards Black Christmas than the norm. Richard Band's score is quite classy.
Films that use the James Horner scores of Battle Beyond the Stars and Humanoids From the Deep that are not those two films ๐
Leviathan -It's enjoyable, but it is just Alien underwater, with a monster closer to The Thing. Jerry Goldsmith once again provides a great score.
Bonus TV
Airwolf -Enjoyed the show, but it took itself way too seriously, and had a morbid obsession with the Vietnam War. Cool theme tune though, the one part most remembered other than it being a show about a helicopter.
Street Hawk -Lasted one season, it was basically Knight Rider with a bike, though the tone edged more towards Airwolf, as Street Hawk was quite casual about blowing people away. It was no better or worse than other shows, but had a cool Tangerine Dream score.

Music can add a lot to a film, but if that's the best thing about the film then I'm probably not going to finish it.

It's not an especially good film, but the soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ is amazing. A contender for Peter Gabriel's best album in my opinion.

I would say some musicals had fair enough music; Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz, but the thing about the music to Star Wars is that it told the story of the movie better than anything else. The music in movie musicals is usually (not always) the sort of music I was talking about earlier when I asked who has a piano in their residence, the kind of music that the whole family, young and old, gather around the piano to sing. There are no songs in Star Wars (Are there?), but the music tells you whats happening in the movie better than the actors or the scenery or the camera shots, anything. I didn't like anything else about Star Wars. Musicals, on the other hand, have a story too and that is my favorite part of most musicals.

That reminds me of the days when instead of buying video games based on movies people bought piano sheet music of the songs in movies. Then they gathered around the piano as a family and sang the songs. My mother liked the music from Dr. Zhivago. Lara's Theme was particularly popular.

Easy:
All the Leone Westerns. At least the four crappy ones that the bubble boys of IMDB love so much. Horrible misuse of inspired music that makes the movies look even dumber than they are.
THE GRADUATE. You can tell that Simon and Garfunkel had no idea how stupid the script was going to be. Next to Leone, the biggest misuse of great music ever.
THE BREAKFAST CLUB. Just like the first two, a misuse of great music. A story where one or two people just use an entire movie to turn classmates into stereotypes. This is the perfect example of how not to write a good script, and how not to make a good movie. Too bad they used good music.
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY: Not as bad as the other examples, but still a misuse of good music for a poor Hollywood formula movie.

And part of the reason is Stanley Kubrick's unorthodox style and very in-formulatic approach and atypical Hollywood style of filmmaking. So, while I appreciate your opinion (in the sense that you decided to offer it), I don't think it's one that many people would agree with. In fact, it strongly suggests that either you don't actually know what a Hollywood formula movie is, or you've never watched 2001.
