Gyllenhaal has always been a rather forgettable actor anyway do you know something about him that others don't? And he seems to be at the chilling out stage of his life at the moment where playing a Spiderman villain, adopting Tom Holland as a bro and starring as the MacGyver hero in a Conor McGregor baddie starring thriller is a part of that. |

The original still kicks ass, and is just such a great and fun film to dig out when I am in bad need of some great 80s action adventure.
There was an attempt on doing a sequel but guess it went straight down to DTV format back in the day. Cannot remember who starred in the leading role, but at least it got Jake Busey as the big bad villain, and was probably not as bad as many said.
Gyllenhaal seems to be doing a whole bunch of complete unecessary remakes, that I am not sure many ever asked about. Twice recently, with Ambulance and The Guilty, both danish releases, the latter a damn good one, and now Road House.

I see this as trying to cash in on Connor McGregor's name. I doubt it will be anything like the original film. But what does it matter, the original sucked ass. One of the worst films of the 80s. If anything, this might be an improvement on it.
Anyhow, at least the '89 film did produce a pretty hilarious Siskel And Ebert review of the film. Here's a link...

Jeeez, the dialogue in this film is utter crap. But it's good for a few laughs. The stuffed polar bear knocking a guy over was kinda funny.
