Just checked the liturgical calendar for 2023... The Feast Day of St. Patrick is on a Lenten Friday this year. Nearly shat myself. Then I remembered that alcohol is allowed on fast days for good Catholic boys and girls

On empty stomachs, St Paddy’s should be a blast. Come midnight, the burgers, pizza, and chicken wings will be flying.

Then the rest of the day is, well, you know. This year it's a Lenten Friday... Which means a fast day (alcohol allowed)... And in our parish, every Friday in Lent we go to Church at 7pm and solemnly do the Stations of The Cross. Could be a wee bit messy on St Patrick's Day this year.

Anyway, the RC church I went to had a cash bar in the basement.

But I did nearly fall out with Fr Cosmos once, after he said that Nigerian Guinness was better than our Guinness. Stronger, yes, I gave him that... But better?

He got transferred by the Holy See to a more needy parish in the developing world, somewhere just outside Manchester.
