I had an uneasy feeling today: I went to WalMart and my Bodega and both had EMPTY milk displays. Not a gallon of milk to be seen. I was gobsmacked anyone seeing any weird outages? BTW I stopped at Raleys, and their milk display was full.

It took a VERY long time for Walmart to once again start regularly stocking the HUGE packages of toilet paper rolls after COVID finally started receding, but that was kind of the norm for MANY retailers, for quite a while: But the one I seem to keep running into from time to time at Walmart, are their Marketside sub sandwiches......usually they'll have at least some, if not a fully stocked refrigerator case, but on more than one occasion I've gone there and the entire case will be sitting completely empty (much like you experienced with the milk today), with nary a sandwich in sight: Another Walmart item that still seems to be "hit and miss" at times, are some of their 'Great Value' snack items......like corn chips and potato chips. For whatever reason, I can't always seem to get my hands on more than a couple of them, if I just happen to hit my Walmart at the wrong time..... On the plus side, an item I buy A LOT of, that REALLY seemed to take a 'hit' during COVID, was all of their 'house brands' of soda.......but now (almost) always seems to be one item that I can pretty much count on being well-stocked whenever I'm there: SAVE FERRIS

anyone seeing any weird outages? BTW I stopped at Raleys, and their milk display was full. Yes similar things are happening to me... During 2020 when Covid Hit, everyone was out of the same kinds of things... That wasn't surprising... But now some stores are completely sold out of some products, while other stores are fully stocked... and that also applies to the same stores in the same company, which is mind boggling. Before Covid, I used to shop at one store for most things, and then go another chain for store brands... Now I have to hit multiple store, and multiple chains to get everything I usually buy... and one week one store will have it, and the next week they don't. It's frustrating and confusing... msdemos , I've been having trouble finding store brands, of things like: soda, Everywhere I go now... "Dr. Thunder" at Walmart has been hit and miss... Meijer has their version called "Dr M". Haven't seen any of that in weeks either... And it's not just the "Dr Pepper" flavors... I know that some companies discontinued some products... but when you can't find any of the flavors of a store brand on the shelf, you begin to wonder if that entire Store Brand is shutting down.

Wow.....like I said, that's the one item our store REALLY seems to be doing a GREAT job with lately !! That said, I'm making my big monthly trip there tomorrow, and watch, EVERYTHING I've said here today will end up going STRAIGHT into the dumper !! SAVE FERRIS

just employee shortages.
the few times I couldn't find something at a store, it wasn't because they didn't have it. it was because no one put it on the shelves yet

I know you dont buy butter NJ😉 but how do you get to the ice cream??🤗 There's an aisle full of ice cream in stand-up freezers I do get to the dairy when I buy Bulgarian yogurt, which is not often. My absolute favorite right now, which is going away for at least the season. www.benjerry.com/flavors/minter-wonderland-ice-cream

Beer - I have some in the fridge, but generally have 4 beers with a buddy out once or twice a month, and rarely drink my own. Things I never have in my house: Butter/margarine Eggs Mayo Ketchup non-hot mustard Sour cream Cream cheese Cream sauces Cottage cheese Mac & cheese Cheesecake Eggnog

I had a dream the other day where I ordered a bagel, no cream cheese, and she puts butter on it. I give it back and say no butter. She gets another one and while she's talking, she does it again. I yell "No butter! And don't even cut it!"

They make different sizes of containers... In fact, I am having trouble finding the large size 45 oz of my favorite kind, and I can only find the small size 15 oz. It's a pain, because I keep running out, and have to do without until I go to the store again, and buy the small size again... I should buy more than one, but I keep hoping I'll find the large size next time I go...

One of the big problems I have with the shortages is...
When the space on the shelf is empty and they have no stock in the back... They'll put the neighboring stock in it's place to make it look full...
OK, that looks good to management because they see "stocked" shelves... But, it really isn't stocked and it's bad for the customer, because when it's time to order more stock... Employees see that the shelves are "Stocked" and won't put an order in for more of the proper stock... and all that remains are the crap that most people don't want for weeks or months, until the store gets their act together and realize what has happened.
I see this often... and that's frustrating!
It's actually bad for the store, since customers will go shop at other stores trying to get these products... and if those stores can actually supply the customers with what they need and want, they'll just shop there, instead of their regular store... or at least a lot more often...
And I won't drive across town, just for a 45 oz tub of butter... I'll buy other things while I am there to make the trip more worthwhile... Things that I now won't be buying at my regular store.
I'd rather just see an empty shelf, and know that they just need to reorder it... than wonder if the store simply no longer carries it, or if has been discontinued by the food company.
This is 2023... Sadly, we expect empty shelves these days...
Either from supply and shipping issues...
OR...
from an outdated ordering system that requires an employee to scan a tag on the shelf...
Seriously, WTF? Shouldn't there be a better system these days than that?... Stores can track which items are sold for "inventory" purposes, and which items are in store to let customers known on the website what it is In-Store... But they can't relay that data to the ordering system to automatically re-order the 4 cans of Split Pea soup that I just purchased, so that they're available again the next time I shop?
