I often set my phone to charge, overnight. It's not unusual for me to get up, in the morning, start "doing things," and forget about it, until mid-morning, or later. (I don't have the heart-and-soul attachment to my smartphone, that many others have.)
A friend recently told me that her husband said that it's not good to do that. She didn't question the "why," behind his warning, but said that she tries not to "overcharge."
If it is true, why is it not good?
- Is it a matter of energy usage? I guess I thought that it would stop charging, when it was fully charged.
- Can it do mechanical harm to the battery, or other parts of the phone.
- Multiple other explanations, that would never have occurred to me?
Thanks

Thank you, dear Catman!
I don't know which kind of battery I have. Regardless, it sounds as if it is, indeed, unnecessary ... and, bad for the phone.
When I was talking to my friend, earlier today, my phone was at 3%. When I got home, I started charging, and that only took about 2 hours, to reach 100.
Clearly, I have to find a more regular/reasonable schedule for charging.
Thanks, again.

Another point to consider: If you leave your phone charging overnight, and the phone is cool to the touch in the morning, the battery is probably not overheating.
