"I don't know, but whoever he was, he's weird and pissed off!"For a while now, the ruthless gang leader Packard Walsh (Nick Cassavetes) and his men have been terrorizing a small town and it's citizens with little or no interference from any bystanders. But one night, a mysterious and fearless avenger (Charlie Sheen) appears out of nowhere in a futuristic vehicle in the middle of the desert, and with only one goal. Which is to help Walsh and his goons to freshen up on their memory, especially of a certain tragic incident, which took place several years ago.The 80s sure did provide us with some of the coolest looking car/vehicle movies/TV-shows with a string of classics such as The Cannonball Run series (1981-1989), Knight Rider (1982-1986), Christine (1983), D.C. Cab (1983), Repo Man (1984), Airwolf (1984-1986), Black Moon Rising (1986), Maximum Overdrive (1986), The Hitcher (1986), No Man's Land (1987) and Cherry 2000 (1987) to just name a few. Anyway, with The Wraith, you end up with one of the most 80s looking and sounding films of them all, as it comes along with a futuristic car, Clint Howard sporting one hell of a hairstyle, the hilarious sidekick duo that is Skank and Gutterboy, Randy Quaid as the towns sheriff, the always memorable and sadistic 80s villain played to the extreme by Nick Cassavetes, a fantastic soundtrack including Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Robert Palmer, Stan Bush, Mötley Crüe and La Marca and of course the icing on the cake is to watch a stunning Sherilyn Fenn in one of my favorite 80s action-sci-fi adventures, and which is always a riot to catch late at night during the hot summer time.

I saw The Wraith on TV back in 1991. It was a serviceable B movie.

watched this on Tubi. Really enjoyable genre mishmash film. Really well shot (pre CGI so the car scenes and explosions had to be done for real), Nick Cassavetes is an enjoyably slimy bad guy and Charlie Sheen really shows he was a charismatic and likable screen presence in his prime. The movie is a clear precursor to The Crow in many ways though probably just a coincidence. Sherilyn Fenn, while beautiful, gives a terrible performance though and I'm not sure what was with the pointless special effect of Sheen revealing himself in the end, why not just have him take off the helmet? It's also a bit frustrating that none of the supernatural elements are explained
the most surprising thing about this movie though was the final scene between Sheen and his character's brother. I wasn't expecting a 80s cult car themed movie with Charlie Sheen with a character named Skank to place a bowl of onions under me...

This is one late night tv staple I never wanted to miss. Thanks for the review.

I remember seeing this on video tape back in the ‘80s and was impressed by the girl’s large nipple.
