Stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds Here is my review; Good Movie
Pros - special effects, action and sets. Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem with the alien. The way it looked and moved looked good to me. - interesting ways of getting the crew members picked off - interesting to see Ryan Renolds in anything other than an action comedy. As always, he plays himself --- the wise cracking action hero. But it's in a serious movie. And he is the first character to die.
Cons - too much melodramatic emoting. Real astronauts are trained to handle life threatening emergencies. This crew screams, freaks out, and cries too much. For example, the first time the alien attacks, immediately the crew freaks out, and starts screaming in hysterical confusion. Not realistic. And too much time spent on crew members crying with sad music, and reflecting on personal feelings. Not only was it real eye rolling and annoying to me. It really slowed the movie down.
What did you think?

Yes, I have the DVD... It feels a bit derivative, but it's a space sci-fi horror I really enjoy 👍

Yeah, I didn't really care for it. Why? You don't like SciFi Horror?

Yeah, I didn't really care for it. Why? I just thought it was really derivative which normally I wouldn't mind if the movie is still interesting. But I was mostly bored;not a fan of this director's other movies which is why I avoided seeing Morbius. Ryan Reynolds seemed like he was having the most fun and then he's the first one killed.

I thought the movie was good. I liked the special effects, the sets, and the action. My only real problem is one I have with lot's of scifi horror movies --- the over acting. Too much screaming, crying, flipping out immediately. Astronauts know they are doing dangerous things in a dangerous environment. They are trained for such things. In reality they don't emote as much as they do in many scifi horror movies. Yeah, I know the whole point of dramatic entertainment is to express emotion in a way the audience can relate, empathize, sympathize, and understand. But in a good scifi horror movie, the situation is the source of drama, fear, anxiety, stress, etc. Good actors should not have to act like unprofessional, inexperienced little ninnies in order to make the audience feel the horror. What do you think?

It's one of the key differences between Alien and Alien: Covenant where they're literally slipping on each other's blood. 1) The original Alien is one of my favorite movies of all time. True classic. It ain't perfect. But considering when it came out. And all the horror movies that had been released before Alien, it raised the bar of quality. 2) There are horror movie tropes and cliches in the original. But when it was released, they weren't tropes or cliches yet. Like the crew finding stupid reasons to continually split up. And the crew ignoring quarantine protocols. But the science officer turning out to be an android still surprises young viewers today. Inspite of them being understandably more sophisticated and aware of horror movie tropes and cliches. Brilliant.

Have this on dvd. And yeah. It doesn't reinvent the Wheel. But it's entertaining enough. Although I hated what happened to the poor Lab Rat. (I'm a Softy.)
