Never been a fan of Kiss

Eagles have some songs i like.

Never really listened to Styx

Probably Molly Hatchet. I'm not the biggest fan of Southern Rock (too close to C/W) but I can find some Skynyrd, .38 Special, Allman Bros tunes i like. Not Molly Hatchet.The singer's voice goes through my head like a nail

Steely Dan. A couple songs, My Old School, Kid Charlemagne. Phooey on the rest.

For me, Kiss goes in the dislike category, while the Eagles and Styx are in the hard to like category.  I make a distinction.

Yeah i don`t agree with that list. 

I guess "classic rock" is limited to a period in time, probably something going from 1966 to 1976, basically from Cream to the punk pile of spit.
Looking up Wikipedia, I see the German version defines it from 1965 to 75. They want The Kinks and the Rolling Stones in there.

I would rather keep 66 or 67 as the start of a style defined by concerts and albums rather than by the attempt to produce pop singles. It does not include earlier rock'n'roll which was no more than a dance music fad climbing up the singles charts.

I can see how Kiss was considered hard rock for dumb kids and just a show of costumes and explosions. Then they even went disco at the end and I assume some demons took them away. I never ever considered buying an album or even taping one back then. 

The Eagles were said to be the top band of radio bland rock and when I got to play a live album in the 90s, I never finished it. Nothing there and some of it was even country, if I remember correctly. What a waste of time.

I never listened to Styx. Never knew they were popular at all. Maybe in the US. Interesting name.

I remember Status Quo being mocked for playing the same song in a loop for decades.



And AC/DC for being simplistic stuff too, although I remember listening to Highway To Hell (the whole album) and actually liking some of it in spite of its hopelessly basic character. Then the singer died… 

I think Slade was another popular band of the 70s that was playing the "as dumb as possible" card to fill stadiums but I never heard them.

Grand Funk Railroad was panned as well in spite of having their day and yes, it was quite terrible stuff.

It can only work this way. "Most disliked" can only be achieved through strong exposure which in turn requires high popularity.
