It was ok. Not necessarily bad, but nothing about it stood out. The entrance was pretty damn cool.

It was fine. I don't feel strongly about her songs, or a lot of pop songs, but she was fine. It sounded like she was actually singing, so that's cool, but I thought the production was fairly minimal. One costume and one stage configuration. Again... fine, but a little underwhelming comparably.
Then again, I also don't really care.

It was fine but low energy I assume because she was pregnant. I would’ve liked someone else to pop in just to run around a little bit and pick things up tempo wise.

That was my takeaway, it was very minimalist by Super Bowl standards. Nothing negative to say about it, but nothing particularly memorable about it. |

I’ll say 5/10 - it wasn’t bad and there wasn’t anything to complain about - but it felt low energy compared to a lot of other halftime shows, and as others have said, minimalist. I’m usually more impressed by the halftime show than I was this year.

I like Rihanna’s music more than say, The Weeknd or God forbid Maroon 5, so on that score it was successful. It was her first show in 6 years or something so she just showed up and sang her hits. As far as performance goes, it wasn’t exactly Madonna, Beyoncé, Prince, or Shakira. She’s pregnant so I’ll give her a pass on that. Still, not my favorite halftime show by any means.
In ten years I suspect I’ll have no idea who the artists are unless they bring in golden oldies from the 00s. I’m already slipping - if they chose acts based purely on current popularity, I’m really not certain who that would be. Taylor Swift? Right?

Aside from her and several dancers on each of the platforms, the choreography on stage, and the camera work, it was average. The exclusion of "Umbrella" would have netted no more than a C-.

Good choreography, but not my thing. Neither are the songs. For once a modern female singer dressed decently. Kind overly dressed which is understandable in her condition.

It was alright, I didn't watch the whole show, I watched about half of it. I was behind live TV at this point and just decided to fast forward through it. From what I saw, I'll give it a 6.

Didn't watch half time. If that hadn't been an option I wouldn't have gone near this thread. I don't watch sport for music acts. Admittedly it's worse in Australia. They don't have half time concerts, they have pre-game shows where the media will write endless articles about whether that person/ band was a good choice, which person/ band they should have got. Why are we flying an act in from the US/ UK when we have Australian bands. All this talk for something that happens PRIOR to the game that not many will watch and even fewer will remember.

Prince was good - - but was he better 100 other times in his career when he played an actual concert with no sporting event on both sides? Of course. Southern's band vs Grambling's band. Otherwise, GTFO. |
