Hondo 1953, what I've read was that she took over the role after Katherine Hepburn (who declined for reasons I've forgotten) and the role became a bit smaller, and that Wayne himself payed for a teeth operation on Geraldine to became more photogenic. Wayne and Page were miles apart in political views, but he liked to work with theater actors since they always "knew their lines" and didn't waste a lot of useless celluloid. Dear Heart 1964 co-starring Glenn Ford was a sweet and wonderful movie. Page played a typical spinster who warms up Ford's character. The Happiest Millionaire 1967 was too long but Page got to sing an amusing duet with Gladys Cooper "There are Those". White Nights 1985, as a defected Russian ballet dancers agent, who's passenger plane had to emergency land in Soviet. I thought this was rather good. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/05/65/ed/0565edf9cdad4d721abc070cabe80b15.jpg) Wasn't very fond of Nasty Habits 1977 and Honky Tonk Freeway 1981 was a mess. Toys in the Attic 1963 has been of my to-watch list for a very long time and there is probably more I should see when I have the time. Thanks for the thread!

One of my favorite actresses of all time and one of the best. So wish I could have seen her perform on stage. I think my favorites of her performances are Sweet Bird of Youth (which she did on Broadway under Elia Kazan's direction), The Trip to Bountiful, Summer and Smoke, A Christmas Memory, and Interiors. With husband, Bruce Dern -- ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DG6X8SQXgAEZhGq.jpg) With friends, Julie Harris -- ![](https://media.gettyimages.com/id/565869861/photo/julie-harris-and-geraldine-page-1980-photo-by-jack-mitchell-getty-images.jpg?s=612x612&w=gi&k=20&c=45AHhj1N2w17fiXOmi1w-rHcmfsLDW-RdmDiMoOg24E=) [ And James Dean, with whom she appeared on Broadway in THE IMMORALIST -- ![](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/cb/b1/c7/cbb1c7b62735055105b43fcb37ebf29f--james-dean-dean-ogorman.jpg)
