That sandwich reminds me of an independent sub shop, decades ago, where I would get a corned beef and sauerkraut with thousand island dressing sub. It was the greatest food in the world - at that point in my life (now it is mostly Mexican and New Mexican food).

These kinds of sandwiches have been called many things for decades...
Here's just a few:
A "Dagwood" or "Dagwood Bumstead" sandwich.
A "Godzilla" Sandwich.
Shaggy & Scooby Doo made huge sandwiches. Not sure what they were called. But a "Scooby Doo" sandwich works.

That one reminds me of Scholtskys. Not as much meat, but you can get 'double'.
My favorite sandwich is a fried shrimp po'boy from MUDBUGS.

Made Reubens with some of the corned beef. Forgot I didn't have any Thousand Island dressing so made a small bit of it from scratch. Not too bad! |
