Divital - I've never had lamb. Does it taste like anything else or have a flavor all it's own?

I have this carne asada from trader joes. I make Quesadillas with it. I cut fresh jalapeno's up and cook them up with the meat. Unfortunately, I have to de-seed the jalapenos first because it makes the spice go into the air and my room-mates with asthma can't tolerate it. Good stuff. Also like the Shawarma chicken.

Amy's cheese pizza (I add sliced black olives) and a Caesar salad. I had to take my diabetic cat to the vet this morning, he has lost his appetite, I'm waiting to hear from the vet (I left him so they could run tests and also do a glucose curve.)

He also has some gastric problems and will be on meds for 4 days and was given a Cerenia injection. Totally my fault, I have been giving in to his pleading for extra treats, I should know better.

Divital - I've never had lamb. Does it taste like anything else or have a flavor all it's own? Oops, sorry. I didn't see this post until today. It's a little difficult to describe the subtleties of flavor to the pallet. I'll try. Comparing lamb to beef, and pork, I would say that there's a bit more sweetness to the meat ... however, it's not a sugary sweetness. Perhaps, "richness," would be a better word, than "sweetness." I think that lamb is best when it's flavored with a touch of garlic, and herbs like rosemary and thyme. That's classic. As for texture, I would say that lamb, depending on the cut, is a denser meat, and can take much of its moisture from the gelatinous tissues around it. Lamb bone marrow is delicate, and delicious. By definition, "lamb," is a young animal. I don't know if the age makes a difference, across the board, to other red-meats. I rarely have veal. I have had mutton, and didn't care for it. It's a bit "tangy," or "gamey." And, I don't have any experience with other, more exotic meats.

I see the doctor today so I plan on cheating for the next few days since I have 6 months to make up for cheating. I'm going to have a small pot pie and a red velvet cupcake.

I always thought Illy was diabetic because she drinks a lot but the kid took her to the vet who did bloodwork & she's fantastic for a 17 yr old. Triglycerides are high so vet wants her off Blue Buffalo which she says is crap (I thought it was one of the quality ones)
