A horror film--especially of the ghostly variety--just isn't complete with a great seance scene! Here are a few I remember off the top of my head:
(1) The Uninvited (1944): Ray Milland, Gail Russell, Ruth Hussey and Batman's Alan Napier participate in a very eerie seance that conjures up a malevolent ghost!
(2) The Changeling (1980): Perhaps my favorite seance sequence. An older medium is called to George C. Scott's sprawling mansion to contact the spirit of the child who died there. She does "automatic writing," and the scene is not only edge of your seat intense, it's downright scary!
(3) The Others (2001): an old, blind woman conducts a seance and discovers just who "the others" are.
Can you think of any more?

The Uninvited(1944) is an excellent choice.

Awesome choices, everyone!
There was a seance of sorts in Let's Scare Jessica to Death.
There's also a memorable seance in Curse/Night of the Demon.
Another memorable fake seance that turns out to be real in "Haunted."
Several fake seances in "Houdini," starring Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh
An infamous ouija board sequence in The Exorcist. Remember Captain Howdy?
