Darke and Macca on US ESPN matches were great.

He does some of the NBC games (from the Sky sports feed, I think), but not many. I want an English announcer when I watching football. American announcers have gotten better since the disasters on the '02 WC. Continually using "British" interchangeably with "English" National team, saying a player played for "Manchester", without City or United, cutting the national anthems. But they are still dull.

Martin Tyler is okay, but he is increasingly sounding like he has swallowed tranquillisers before some games, he's been with Sky for over over 25 years now, I think it is time to put him out to pasture.

The greatest announcer in American sports, Vin Scully, just retired. He had done broadcasts for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers since 1950. 66 years. Baseball fans would have loved to see another 66 years. He was a lot like Darke. Unbiased, entertaining without being a clown, never a stale story, and, most importantly for an announcer, he knew when to talk and when to shut the hell up and enjoy the moment. My two favorite announcers in 54 years of sports.
