I guess Michael Smith & Jemele Hill aren't going to save the day for them after all.

I guess Michael Smith & Jemele Hill aren't going to save the day for them after all. anybody ever try to watch ryen rusillo on ESPN? he is the biggest BOOOORRREEEEEEEE. i think espn let go of danny kannell (sp?) the QB from Florida that used to have a show with him anywho. Rusillo is even on ESPN radio when i'm driving to work. who does this guy appeal to? i'm not being ignorant or rude - i'm just curious - if i'm tuning into ESPN i want to know about the daily sports day and be entertained - he does nothing. it's jaw dropping and shockingly amazing he's still there (yeah - i hear you about smith and hill too).

I guess Michael Smith & Jemele Hill aren't going to save the day for them after all. I still watch ESPN for actual sporting events. And 30 for 30. The rest sucks. Paul Finebaum isn't too bad at times, just for the idiot callers. I don't see how he can keep a straight face. He's the greatest straight man since Zeppo Marx.

I don't for the life of understand why, when given a choice, anyone would choose to listen to a national sports show rather than a local one. There's basically two choices in a national show: 1. The kind that tries to appeal to the widest possible audience by saying nothing remotely controversial, talking mainly about the most popular teams / players (i.e. Dallas Cowboys, Warriors, Yankees, LeBron James, etc.), and being about as boring as alphabetizing your underwear. I'm looking at you, Mike & Mike. 2. The kind that tries to make EVERYTHING they say be controversial, thereby usually ending up saying stupid things just for the sake of starting an argument or being contrarian. See Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless for this type of show. Both of these kinds of shows usually suck, and they are ESPN's bread and butter. Wouldn't you rather listen to something local? You're a Philadelphia guy, right? Don't you listen to 97.5 or 94 at all? Or are you not in the area? And if you're not, 97.5 has an app.

Would always listen to Stern in the mornings. Although I loved 'The Great Sports Debate' on cable - don't know if you remember that. Great Philly sports talk show. old school WIP guys - loved Bruno, Mac & Mac, The Cuz. Now I think Gargano is mornings on 97.5. I'm a huge Missanelli fan - and I think he's afternoons 97.5 and I try to catch him when I can. Glad Josh Innes is gone. Wish Bruno would come back in some capacity to either station. i travel a lot. i'm quasi inbetween Balt-Philly and closer to Baltimore mainly now - but will ALWAYS consider myself a Philly guy.

I first started listening to Philly sports radio on the day the arbitrator made his ruling regarding which team Eric Lindros got him in the trade. I loved Jody Mac and Steve Fredericks back in the day. Love Mike Missanelli now. In the morning I rotate between Angelo / WIP and Gargano on 97.5, whichever one is annoying me less. Honestly, I don't really like either morning show all that much, there are things about both that I can't stand. I like Rhea and Al Morganti but I can't stand Angelo and I fucking despise Joe Conklin. I don't much care for Gargano and his sidekicks either. That being said, both shows are like a Martin Scorsese movie compared to the utter hell that Mike & Mike is.

I can't spend every day listening to San Diego Padres talk, however. Personally, outside of football season, I'm nothing but podcasts now. Listen, uninterrupted, to exactly what I want to hear. To not have to hear four months worth of Lebron James and Kevin Durant stuff has been heaven.

I'm glad ESPN is sinking. They were a virtual monopoly for a long time, and clearly people want something other than idiots screaming at each other.
As far as sports radio, you are not a New Yorker if you listen to ESPN radio instead of WFAN. I don't care if you loathe the Sports Pope, you kiss the ring. There is no excuse for listening to Dave Rothenberg over The Schmooze. There's no excuse for listening to Peter Rosenberg instead of Da Numbah One. And honestly I don't even know who ESPN has opposite Joe and Evan.
I would rather listen to Lori fucking Rubinson on WFAN than listen to Peter Rosenberg trying to be funny.
