I recall a lot of marketing of Evil Dead 2 and it tied in with the zombie trend of the late 80s. Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street were getting most of the attention.
Army of Darkness beat out Jurassic Park for some fan movie award too so by 1993 it was already around.
