I guess it is almost impossible not to include at least a few from Jan Hammer, specially within the days of Miami Vice. Somehow, these are maybe not among his most well known, probably due to rarely (if ever) being released as official themes, but thanks to Youtube and fans of the show, there is been made some real solid attempts on giving all these atmospheric and memorable background instrumentals, a new life.
These two I always come back to, and love how one is a rather sad and lonely tune, while the other comes out far more upbeat and catchy. They were both from the solid episode known as Buddies, starring James Remar:
Another two fine examples are through the adventurous yet relaxing sounds of Margaret and into the more suspenseful and serious Heart of Darkness:

I was very glad to find some of the instrumentals from the Charles Bronson thriller Murphy's Law (1986) through an official CD release (along with tracks from 10 to Midnight and Death Wish 4 among others), and where the lovely and rich Arabella's Theme is included a few times in the film.
But the whole theme is such a joy to the ears. Love how romantic and emotional it gets, while building along some nice guitars and yeah, quite a nice surprise, that something so beautiful and calm, could come from yet "another" Bronson/Cannon Pictures b-movie. But a damn good one as well.

This far too short yet highly atmospheric little theme from the Norwegian cult-teenage movie Death at Oslo S (1990), has somehow always reminded me a bit of Pink Floyd, or maybe more David Gilmour.
The whole intro scene along with the music of Enter Shredder from the original TMNT 1990 movie, is still total bad ass.
There is also quite a few nice little warm and atmospheric synth melodies, thrown around in Christmas Evil (1980). Sadly, they never made it into a full length theme:
Another fine little movie theme, is from 52 Pick-Up (1986), and where a similar melody is re-used in the Chuck Norris film Firewalker (1986):

These two I have been on the lookout for, for quite some time. Glad they are at least uploaded, but would love an extended version, maybe a re-release of the soundtrack, with the instrumentals as well.
Anyway, the first one is a upbeat and gentle shorter version (without the original vocals) of Hugh Harris and his Rhythm of Life. The other comes with a far more sad and haunting tone to it:

Johnny Douglas & Robert J. Walsh
"AutoBop"
From the Transformers G1 Soundtrack (1984-1987)
Frequently played by Autobot Jazz... And it played at the Dancitron in the episode: "Auto-Bop"...
In "Blaster Blues", Autobot Blaster decides to share his enjoyment of a rock concert by broadcasting the song to his fellow Autobots... Which only annoys most of them, with the exceptions of Autobot Jazz who starts dancing, and Autobot Cosmos who enjoys the music while travelling alone through the Solar System.

One that is one of my favourites is:
Peaches En Regalia by Frank Zappa. It appeared in the background music in one episode of the adult cartoon "Duckman". The title character was voiced by Jason Alexander, who one would know as George Costanza from "Seinfeld".
PLUS:
Ajax, one of Duckman's sons, is/was voiced by.....Dweezil Zappa.

Originally written by Sol Kaplan for the episode "The Doomsday Machine" of the original Star Trek series...
These two musical cues were used a few times in various episodes of the series starting in Season 2...
I love the "Countdown" drum beat of "Kirk Does It Again"
And also the "Urgency" felt in the music while dealing with problems in "Violent Shakes"
My favorite arrangement of the cues, involves the mixing of the two cues for the ending of the Episode: "Obsession"
It's amazing how well the cues work with the timing of the scenes... as if the scenes were written, filmed, and cut to intentionally use the two musical cues.
