Went and saw it today. Really enjoyed it. Decent twist, really good violence and set pieces. Good character development for the 'core four' from scream 5. Some of the meta felt heavy handed and the new characters never really get a moment to shine. Loved the extended opening kill and for a minute thought "OMG are we gonna go in this direction?" but then the phone rang and I knew we were back in it.
Solid entry, looking forward to a rewatch.

I had some issues with logic at the end's reveal. But I loved the opening scenes. Had some issues with who survived. But again people want an escape. Not logic. I am honestly not sure what they could do with a part 7 without it getting stale. We know it's coming. $ talks.

I am honestly not sure what they could do with a part 7 without it getting stale. We know it's coming. $ talks. *spoilers* I was really intrigued by the killer taking off his mask after the opening kill and then we kind of follow him around for a bit. I thought maybe they were gonna kind of show this one from the perspective of one of the killers and I got really excited to see just how different it would feel to be on this side of the fence for most of the movie. Then his phone rang and you knew he was doomed. In hindsight it might not have worked for an entire film with returning characters and such but for a moment there I thought it was a really unique change for a scream flick. I had a little issue with the survivors too. I get that they did the same with Dewey and Gale at times throughout the series but this is the second time in a row that there’s no reason for Chad to be alive and yet he lives. I’d rather them just have him knocked out of the picture in a believable yet not life threatening way. Also, if this ‘trilogy’ is going to follow a skewed outline of the original trilogy then the next movies killer should be a random unknown sibling to either Tara or Sam. Unless they’re setting up a psycho Sam breakdown but I won’t buy that until I see it.

This was so much fun with so many great setpieces (the opening, the subway, the ladder). Then the third act happened. -suddenly everyone is from Krypton. People get stabbed/shot multiple times and live, some literally just walking it off without even needing hospital treatment
-the reveal makes literally no sense. How did no one know the cop was Richie's dad? How did no one notice that he swapped his daughter's body? Why did the daughter and brother need to lie about being related? Why did the brother help save Mindy?
-I always wanted to see three killers, but this felt a little crowded. The kids turn into basically anonymous henchmen. And despite three, they still gst their asses kicked, which leads me to
-SEVEN main survivors. In a slasher movie. The only person who died that was even a character was Mindy's girlfriend. So many were just extras or dayplayers

****Spoilers****
Totally agree about the survivors. Even Sams love interest made it out alive. Kirby, Gale, Chad and Mindy…one of them should’ve probably but the bullet. Chad is the front runner getting stabbed several times in the torso. I get that they finally gave him character development but they gotta kill someone!

And an hour later Mindy is giggling and running around after getting a knife twisted in her gut!? 😆 I get it. They need survivor's for another movie. But he should've bit the dust.

Knife wounds just aren’t what they used to be.

I liked the opening scene with Tamara Weaving. I liked the subway scene, apartment attack, and Gail Weathers penthouse scene. The attacks were brutal and fast as they should be. Most of the rest was filler. Too much inane chitchat and unlikeable main characters. It's likely I will never watch it again or even remember it a year from now. The cop being a serial killer's father would have made him suspect number one, that part was just dumb.

At least Mrs Loomis was just larping around as some random reporter. This is the lead investigator on a copycat of his own son. Give me a break.

I would give them credit if they ended the series by having a final Ghost Face who turns out to be Dario Argento, driven to murder because he was tired of all the cheap American giallos.
