One of my favorite guilty pleasures of the early 70s was watching The Sonny and Cher Show. I even watched when they came back a a divorced couple, and I thought it was just as entertaining! Anybody else have love for Sonny and Cher?

Yep, it was a great show. And you got occasional glimpses of Steve Martin early in his career. The regulars went on to back up the Hudson Brothers on their show. I remember the fat suit sketches. Tony Randall doing Shboom as Kboom for the end of the show production. I remember the animated music videos. Brand New Key and Bad, Bad Leroy Brown. Just a great show.

We loved that show. Especially remember the V-A-M-P VAMP sketches. Also liked when they would bring Chastity out at the end. Fun Fact: I actually saw Sonny and Cher perform at The New York State Fair in Syracuse in 1972. I think they probably decided to get another agent after that.
P.S.

IMO, this was the funniest variety series since LAUGH-IN. But then the couple divorced, and their singular efforts were dismal failures. Even when they reunited for a new series, the old magic was missing.
