Actress Karen Black came to Hitchcock's room to discuss her performance in Family Plot; she described how he solemnly told her, "I have no belly button!" Then he pulled up his undershirt and showed her a foot-long scar across his belly where his navel had once been, while she presumably hid her horror behind a polite smile. |
