Jungle Jim (1948) directed by William Berke. Starring Johnny Weissmuller was the first picture in the Jungle Jim series that consisted of 16 films originally released between 1948 and 1955. An American TV series was produced starring Weissmuller, who had previously played the character in the theatrically released Jungle Jim feature films. A great favourite down here in OZ...The "Jungle Jim" TV series premiered on Sept. 26, 1955, running 26 episodes, until March 19, 1956, they aired here throughout the 1960s...

Some adaptations of works by playwright William Inge: Splendor in the Grass (1961), big screen 1981 TV movie, starring Melissa Gilbert and Cyril O'Reilly (a poor re-make) Picnic (1956), big screen. 1986 TV movie, starring Gregory Harrison and Jennifer Jason Leigh (okay, but not great) 2001 TV movie, starring Josh Brolin and Gretchen Mol ( terrible remake) Bus Stop (1956), big screen.
Bus Stop, 1982 TV movie version, starring Tim Matheson and Margot Kidder. Hands down the best interpretation of the Inge play I have ever seen (far better than the movie), beautifully directed by Peter H. Hunt (Helen's uncle). Produced on HBO.
Bus Stop series, 1961-62; good series.

Flopped play with Tallulah Bankhead was revived as a successful film with Bette Davis. "Dark Victory," 1939. Big screen. I haven't seen it, but I did see the 70's TV remake with Elizabeth Montgomery, and it is super-sad. "Dark Victory," 1976. Small screen.

Doctor in the House (1954) A very entertaining British comedy film directed by Ralph Thomas. Based on the 1952 novel by Richard Gordon, the author also contributed to the screenplay, the story follows a group of students through medical school. It was the most popular box office film of 1954 in Great Britain, and elevated Dirk Bogarde to one of the biggest British stars of the 1950s. The film's success spawned six sequels, and also a television and radio series entitled Doctor in the House. Produce from 1969-1970 the popular TV series had a team of excellent writers, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Barry Cryer, Graeme Garden, Bill Oddie and Bernard McKenna, and was enjoyed also down here on Australian television... TV series 1969-1970

Shadow of a Doubt (1943 theatrical version):Shadow of a Doubt (1995 made for tv remake):The '95 version was definitely a poor remake, despite Mark Harmon making the best of an unsatisfying re-tool of Uncle Charlie. This one committed the cardinal sin of having Charles Oakley turn out to have been an imposter rather than the psychotic relative of Hitchcock's imagining, which pretty much ruined the entire point of the story.

THE THIN MAN became a TV series in 1957 with Peter Lawford and Phyllis Kirk as Nick and Nora. THE THIRD MAN became a TV series from 1959 to 1965. Harry Lime (alive somehow!) was a good guy played by Michael Rennie.
