Topper
In the 50's, a neighbor playmate, and I did a Friday evening ritual that rotated between our house, and her house. Friday dinners were casual. We were each allowed a candy bar (I almost always chose Mounds). After dinner we watched "Topper," starring Leo G. Carroll and Lee Patrick, as the Toppers ... and Robert Sterling, and Anne Jefferies as, ghosts, George/Marian Kirby.
I think I was in my 20's before I saw the original film version, With Roland Young and Billie Burke, as the Toppers ... and Cary Grant, and Constance Bennett as George/Marian.
That brought back fun memories.
I also recall a brief TV run of How to Marry a Millionaire, but I don't have much memory about it, except that Barbara Eden played the part of "Loco," who was played by Betty Grable, in the film.

Had to search, but I thought there was a TV movie remake of sorts of Topper: www.imdb.com/title/tt0458180/I recalled seeing it when it aired, but don't remember much about it, apart from its' starring Roddy McDowall as Topper.

The Miracle Worker (1962 film starring Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke) The Miracle Worker (pretty good 1979 TV movie with Patty Duke now playing in the Anne Bancroft role) Slightly off-topic, but interesting, movielover : this actually originated on television on "Playhouse 90" in 1957, directed by Arthur Penn and starring Teresa Wright and Patty McCormick. It then went to Broadway, directed by Arthur Penn and starring Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, who then, as we know, won Oscars for the film version, also directed by Arthur Penn!

Life with Father, was a 1947 film, starring William Powell, and Irene Dunn, as Clarence and Vinnie Day. They lived in fashionable neighborhood of New York City. Among their 4 sons was John Day, played by a young Martin Milner. An also young Elizabeth Taylor had a small part in the film, along with wonderful Zasu Pitts.
The 1953-1955 TV adaptation, starred Leon Ames and Lurene Tuttle, as Clarence and Vinnie Day. In looking up specifics on IMDb, I see that Marion Ross ... later of "Happy Days," ... played the role of Nora, a maid in the Day household.

Let's look at this from the other direction 1970 film of Dorothy Johnson's story: 1958 Wagon Train episode, "A Man Called Horse", w/Ralph Meeker: My guess would be Universal bought the story rights but couldn't get a feature off the ground, do they gave the property to one of their TV shows.

Luv the young Blythe Danner... Wish this would resurface OMG, I'd completely forgot about this one. Recall watching it sometimes as a kid. I'm with you, I wish it would turn up on some of those retro stations to replace the 5000th airings of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.

I would contend that A FINE PAIR 1968 starring Rock Hudson and Claudia Cardinale (about a "square" police official who partners with the counterculture daughter of a cop) is the pilot for MCMILLAN & WIFE. I have never seen the connection mentioned but it seems obvious to me that it was the inspiration for the series. I think Hudson's character in the movie even has a sassy maid.

Rush Hour and Training Day a few years ago, as well as Condor were notable failures basically.
